Fun fact this song was written by Wilson’s Smile era collaborator, Van Dyke Parks.

Then again, a lot of his songs are about car minutiae.

No I’m sure you’re right. I’ve had a lot of dental work since getting clean and I haven’t had anything where I need to take anything with opioids. But I know they are useful in other contexts, so I don’t want to paint with a wide brush.
But no Novocain is hogwash.

As I’m sure need no one to tell you: Horsepucky.
Afterwards, sure, maybe non-addicts would even be better off with Tylenol and Ibuprofen mixture.* But that makes no sense during the procedure. It wouldn’t lead to a relapse and would life miserable for dentist and patient alike.

I’ve not read the book; is he trying to suggest there was no anesthetic (novocaine) during the procedure? Or that he wasn’t prescribed opiates after the fact?
(The latter is not unusual depending on conditions and procedure, etc)

Yeah last I checked they really only cared if the kids were going to be raised Catholic. But they usually do have some kind of course and wait time.

I’m sure you or no one else in that thread needs to hear from a former Altar Boy who served scores of Catholic weddings, but if it helps, well, that’s a load of baloney.

We had a plaster replica of Michelangelo’s David bust in our college house, I wonder if this is what it is with off blue “marble line” printed on for verisimilitude.
