Moreover the underlying demand here - that Mexican Americans recognize their culture and identity is frightening to Americans, and tactically hide it from view - is only a shade distinct from what MAGA nativists themselves are saying. At some point defending our values require we assert those values

By the way, people who are on site covering protests, have almost no ability to write alttext while juggling everything (I’ve been there myself). Something you can do to help from home is writing alt text on powerful images that you want people to share.

That's one of the things that is generally different from the US and France. France has a public that is socialized to accept protest. It's like bad weather annoying but you work around it. The US media has spent half a century treating protest as violence that you shouldn't have to deal with
