I never imagined I would one day be living in a world where people are frightened to say don't kill children because it might hurt the feelings of the killers.

In the 1980's Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher allowed the richest to buy all our Public Resources, then the billionaires used all the money stolen from you to buy the Government. That is how we got to the hell we have now.

ARGH food banks aren't like shops or A&E! You have to be referred to one! You can't just rock up asking for help! This is so irresponsible from Barclays!

This should be read by everyone. The degree of Musk's involvement and support on Putin's behalf is shocking!

Good stuff as ever from @petergeoghegan.bsky.social: Sam Power, an expert in political finance at Bristol University, said that the “black hole” in Reform’s 2019 accounting return “is wholly exceptional in British politics.” open.substack.com/pub/democrac...

This needs to be taken very seriously. All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations

Star on the money again.

Sterling close to its highest value against the Euro since the Brexit referendum. Markets appear to be rewarding the prospect of long term British political stability. Not something you’ve been able to say for a while.

How will the Palace PR machine respond to this? A. Pretend Camilla has a chest infection B. Take a year off for pre-cancerous cells C. Leak stories about Harry divorce?

Not a speechmaker but a strategist: Keir Starmer’s approach to Europe is all about quiet progress. The big picture? Less divergence, more alignment, & cautious bridge-building. The UK is changing direction. #OurPlaceInEurope report by Stephen MacNair #Brexit #Brejoin

If youth mobility is the price of a closer relationship, it is a very cheap one indeed. "This is not free movement. It is a visa deal, of the sort which we already have with countries like Australia, New Zealand, South Korea and Japan." @iandunt.bsky.social

Economy shrinks by a further 0.1% Brexit has cut UK trade by up to 15%... Immigration is much higher post Brexit But..the...boats🙄 WAKE UP and smell the roses...or take your kids' future further into the mire. Then explain how poor we all are in 20 years time Apart from the super rich of course

Worth 5 minutes to fill this out.

Thames Water is trying to sneak a bailout past customers before Christmas. It'll cost 800 MILLION in fees and interest. 90% of the world runs water in public hands: we can do the same here. Add your name here adn demand permanent public ownership: weownit.org.uk/act-now/brin...

Massive Brexiter says what now?

This obviously isn’t me (pretty face isn’t one word for starters, unless it’s a Californian herb). I have reported and would be grateful if anyone else who gets a similar message could do the same.

So true.

It’s notable, but not exactly surprising, that so many* of the supposedly ‘sensible’ Brexiters have turned out to be mad, racist, hideous and/or stupid Farage fans. Montgomerie, a particularly pungent proof of this particular pudding, has been stealing a living for years. *every single one of them

Covid corruption commissioner starts fraud probe Well I hope he gets a lot of our money back after the Tories and their PPE corruption.. And I also hope some of the profiteering wrong 'uns go to jail Let's see. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Lovelies would it be helpful if I shared all of the manifestos ideas for the NHS coming from different parties? I analysed them ahead of General Election for my personal newsletter and maybe I should send all of these newsletters out for free again?

The number one search item in British newsrooms right now is: "South Korean politics expert"

Wow. MPs back proportional representation system for UK elections in symbolic vote www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

A surprise motion for a bill to introduce proportional representation passed today. Rupert Lowe of Reform failed to vote for it despite it being in their manifesto. To be fair, he was probably busy being distracted by milk or pretending not to know that a fellow Reform MP slapped a woman about.

Green MP @carladenyer.bsky.social saying what we’re all thinking - why is the so called independent water commission exploring everything BUT public ownership as a solution. 🤯 Water is broken in this country. Public ownership is the ONLY solution. #water #publicownership #greens

Yesterday, Greater Manchester approved free travel passes for young people who have experienced care up until the age of 25. Through devolution, important progressive steps continue to be made.

Private business, banks and mega corporations receive trillions of pounds from the state. And they take the money and hide it offshore. Dont let them convince you that those recieving benefits are the problem. I've never known someone on benefits hide their money in the Cayman islands...

Royal Mail Only 76% of 1st-class mail delivered in time, down from 79%. 93% of 2nd-class post on time, down from 94%. 1st class stamp £1.65; 2nd class 85p When privatised in 2013: 1st class 60p; 2nd class 50p Privatisation = Higher price, worse service. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

In an age of immense wealth they tell you there isn't enough. In an age of climate catastrophe they tell you change is not possible. In an age of deepening inequality they tell you there is no alternative. In an age of war and profiteering from arms sales they tell you peace is impossible.

My direct appeal to @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social & Keir_Starmer in the light of yesterday's vote on AD. If they sincerely care about dying people, surely now they will publicly & urgently commit to properly funding our threadbare, neglected palliative care? www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

“The first step is to accept that mistakes were made and to learn from them” says Badenoch at some ugly Think Tank event about immigration. Then promises to make exactly the same mistakes all over again; scapegoating migrants, cruelty as policy, proposing a cap and threatening our human rights.
