You've all adopted the darkness. We were born in it.

Second, like you said, there going to be a fair amount of single issue voters among us supporting LGBTQ rights, and it's a really, really bad idea to tick us ALL off to go for voters who kind of maybe have it on their radar, somewhere below the price of gas. It wouldn't make any sense.

I'd add the more I think about it, the more I see that Dems reversing course on trans rights would be politically boneheaded on multiple levels, even assuming that poll is accurate. First of all the voice for civil rights is going to get louder, and voters will remember who was on the just side.

"Please, please, just do this one thing worse than the Republicans! We have cynical both-siders to cater to!"

Maybe the media is just desperately longing for the Dems to have a stance on one issue any single issue, that's as bad or worse than the Republicans' stance, so they can do a both-sides comparison without grading the conservatives on some kind of curve.

Every child, every one of my people in the cages, could have been a neighbor, a doctor, a new family member. And this country has chosen violence against our dignity for decades.

I've lived for years in a working class neighborhood full of people who I have no idea what their immigration status is and definitely don't know the status of their families and friends.
Guess why I don't know?
Because it's never mattered. Everyone is just trying to live their lives.
Fuck off.

Their strategy only works because of all the people who've never had to live outside of their rural red havens. (I grew up in a city of 12,000 and can confirm that even living in a town THAT size can mess with your perception if things.)

Increasingly I feel that the whole "voting is morally unacceptable" / "everything is lost so let's give up" thing is all about just refusing to actually *do* anything, and even more importantly refusing to *take responsibility* of things.

I have similar complaints about "tear gas." Oh, "tear gas," it must be a gas that makes you cry, like an onion! They'd never call it something like "choking gas" or "eye-burning lung-patient killer."

The name "rubber bullets" used to make me think they were firing Nerf pellets at people, until I saw the pictures of what look like small artillery shells. Thise things could kill someone at close range, or easily put out an eye or cause serious lasting damage otherwise.
