Ah, the traditional “rain starting just when it’s time to pack up the tent” part of the camping trip

From yesterday’s No Kings protest. Hello, my fellow Gen Xer, I agree. We’ll tramp the dirt down.

I’m doomed

I just talked to a customer service person on the phone who said that she had never seen the name "Sara" without an "h" before. She sounded American. I am at a loss.

This weekend I’m a judge at my favorite Girl Scout event of the year, a camping competition. I’m in my tent and I hear the troops setting up. It makes me so happy that even with all the things going on, there are troop leaders willing to put in the time to give Girl Scouts this experience. 🏕️

Guns N' Roses, opening for Aerosmith at Great Woods.

What if you handed out free tacos to the poor Or catered taco bars in the largest soup kitchens and shelters Or went to DHS detention facilities and as Congress demanded they let your free food trucks in to serve detainees Or filled food pantries with taco fixings Or ANYTHING ELSE

Found this relic in a drawer at work. My boss had never seen one before. I started to explain “imagine forwarding e-mail, but paper” but soon gave up. (Yes, I know that hyphen in the e-mail also adds years to my apparent age.) 👵🏻

Picked up this fabric at my quilting guild’s meeting. No selvedge. I have no idea what to make of (or from) it.

Few things make me nosier than measles exposure location announcements. Working out, going to a gallery, eating in restaurants, all sounds good... but why the hardware stores? What kind of vacation is this? publichealthinsider.com/2025/05/13/p...

Seasonal Whamageddon for the shes and theys: how long can you go this weekend before someone who is not, in fact, your child wishes you a happy Mother's Day?

I was at a memorial for Diana Arens today and it felt weird that we weren’t all taking photos constantly. We document! @masvanyo.bsky.social @taracraig.bsky.social I nearly took ones to send to you of your photos on the huge screen. But my few social skills kicked in and I kept my camera away.

“I don’t need patterns any more,” I said. “I can improv all my quilts now,” I said.

Pat C wrote a good piece about Diana Arens, @dianaarens.bsky.social , who died suddenly a few days ago. Diana and I had been friends since we were teenagers — not in regular contact these days but still sending the occasional text. allcountingonyou.com/diana/

Absolutely every liberal minister is basing next Sunday’s sermon on this

I’ve been a fan of “Jesus Christ Superstar” since I was a kid, and got to see it on the big screen today at SIFFarama. Holy moly it’s good to really see the costumes, Judas’ expressions, the details. Go, if you get a chance; it’s in Seattle a few more days.

All right, now it’s personal

My reward for good clean living is that I have never used Slack. I am, however, very on-line, and my reward for _that_ is how fucking funny “Several People are Typing” by Calvin Kasulke is to me. I read it in two sittings, which is not something my brain often lets me do :dusty-stick:

I was told by fellow protesters today that there was only one trans athlete in the US, or 10, or 11. I understand the point they’re trying to make but a) no, there are plenty, and b) even if there were only ten trans athletes in the US, that doesn’t change anything.

I am ready for the classic “ratfink” to come back as an insult.

Post a warning
