With the first reading of the barbaric and unjust disability benefit cuts bill presented in the House today, here is a reminder to disabled people to treat yourselves kindly. It is a stressful and upsetting time for us, so save some grace for yourself. Bydd gryf ❤️ #WelfareNotWarfare

The DWP have rescheduled their consultation on the disability cuts in Cardiff. We will still be protesting as the consultation is still incredibly unfair - with the most controversial proposals STILL not up for discussion! #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePIP

Millionaires agree too! #taxwealthnotwork

🚨A welcome Government U-Turn on the winter fuel payment, which they have restored to 7.5 million pensioners. These cuts should never have been proposed in the first place - to save another embarrassment, the Government should reverse their disability benefit cut plans now too.

BREAKING: The DWP have cancelled their ONLY in person consultation on the disability cuts, in the whole of Wales. Disabled people are still protesting outside Cardiff Central Station, and we're holding our OWN consultation ✊ Bydd ein lleisiau yn cael eu clywed! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 linktr.ee/swanseaDPAC

Government plans to cut disability benefits could drive more costs on to cash-strapped councils, according to campaigners and local government officials The Disability Policy Centre estimates the cuts would add £1.2bn of costs for the NHS and social care By me: www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Disabled people receiving continuing health care to have same rights to direct payments as those who access social care. “This new law marks a significant milestone in progressing the right to independent living for all disabled people in Wales.” Proud to be there @disabilitywales.bsky.social

MPs to vote on disability benefit cuts without knowing ‘full impact’

#WelfareNotWarefare @thecanaryuk.bsky.social doesn’t get the support it should. So share their articles and look them up on their socials

#WelfareNotWarfare It’s estimated that by 2029-30 that between 1.2 million to 800,000 disabled people will lose between £4200 to £6300 a year from cuts to PIP From 2028-29 getting PIP will determine if you qualify for the health element of UC These cuts are monstrous

#WelfareNotWarfare I’m on CB ESA they merge it with JSA & time limit it I will lose £7K a year. Labour are looking at social insurance it means you save for periods of sickness as the state won’t be there to support you

#WelfareNotWarfare There is littlte chat about contributions benefits ESA & JSA will merge to form unemployment insurance benefit & this time limited & claimants expected to look for work when time limit ends apply for Universal Credit www.mirror.co.uk/money/two-dw...

⚖️ The scales aren’t balanced. The govt is cutting support for disabled people while refusing to tax extreme wealth. After 15 years of austerity, it's time to rebalance our economy—for good. Tax wealth fairly. Invest in people. Protect our future.

Today I took a message to Rachel Reeves at the Treasury: it's time to rebalance the economy. A #WealthTax on multi-millionaires and billionaires would raise £24billion - nearly 5 times as much as the government is trying to save by taking support away from disabled people.

On Wednesday 26th March there will be a National Day of Protest against Disability Benefit Cuts. There will be protest in Swansea too. It will be at 1pm at Castle Square. If you can please support this by attending or spreading the word.

Some disabled people could lose £10k a year in benefits by end of decade

Ministers are silent, but PIP cuts won’t just hurt disabled people — carers will suffer too. PIP is a passport to support like Carer’s Allowance & council tax reductions. Losing it could cost carers thousands a year, pushing families deeper into poverty. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

As the DWP prepares to publish a green paper on welfare reform, our colleague Kat spoke to the @BBCRadioWales breakfast team about the catastrophic impact expected benefits cuts will have on disabled people. Listen from 42 minutes into the programme: www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Organisations have warned Chancellor Rachel Reeves against cutting disability benefits as part of welfare reform. Any cuts would have a catastrophic impact and push thousands of disabled people into poverty. Meaningful change will never happen with cuts. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home...

Only 3% of new housing in London is suitable for older and disabled people, and only 0.8% is suitable for wheelchair users. Yet 18% of the UK population is disabled and the numbers are going up all the time. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...
