Thank you Senator Booker!

100% agree and it has a lot to do with why Canadian elections arenât the same clown circus. But itâs also exactly the kind of boring politics nerd stuff 95% donât pay attention to, thus a key target by wealth looking to expand power. Those laws need to be *protected*.

Itâs time to do the right thing for the party and step down as senate minority leader.

Whoa thatâs **huge**!!
Iâd love to hear what changed your mind, if youâd be willing to share a little about that. What in the 2016 election cycle crossed a line for you? When you quit Fox, what did you switch to for news?

Some absolutely yes got what they hoped for.
I know people who are 100% unplugged from news & others people who are so in denial that theyâre virtually dissociating or mainlining rhetoric even more now for safety/comfort.
I hold out some hope for some the latter, but understand why others donât.

I apologize for having provided feedback you didnât directly ask for, and Iâll disengage here as we arenât hearing one another. My bet is you and I probably actually agree on a whole lot, just a slight misalignment on tactics.
These are trying times.
I wish you all the best!

And in all seriousness, the irony of this thread is spectacular.

Some of them are surely trolls. Some are real true believers. Many are probably straight bots.
But the people quietly reading the back-and-forth - who you name as your intended audience anyway - will also be more persuaded if you do just share links, facts and ease up on the language.

Oh sorry no! I meant not engaging with strangers on social media, not to not vote.
âYou arenât familiar with the real worldâ is combative. Purposely? I, like you, am passing along facts. Telling people that theyâre clueless wonât inform them, & wonât inform people passively reading your messages.
comment in response to

I believe you youâve tried other approaches! But for other people reading this, the example you shared, telling people theyâre cluelessâŚ
The psychology says thatâs going to cause them to retreat further into their beliefs. And you would be better off not engaging.

If you know these people IRL, theyâre better to have these convos IRL.
If these are strangers on a FB threadâŚyouâd need to tread v lightly to find a way in. Social media isnât good at facilitating convos, it just much rewards the pwning each other. People are conditioned to expect attacks.

When people sense they're being scolded or attacked, even a little, they literally to shut you out & mentally tripple down on their original position. The phenomenon is called belief hardening.

Iâve been reading a lot about communicating across ideological divides of late. I know youâre trying, I credit you that! But if you want to reach people you need to soften your language a whole lot.

Do your best is right. Everything Iâve read on effective activism says the goal canât be to change people anyway. Reach out, let them know you heard about XYZ & you worried for them. Ask if theyâre ok, offer support. Connect sincerely & do the mutual aid. They might engage, might not. You tried.

General skeeting trends is not the same as the polished presence.
The former is â¨social mediaâ¨, which is basically a rage machine that rewards being maximally angry & often being pretty terrible to one another & does a terrible job at facilitating useful conversation. Yes, even this site.

An analogy would be for me to say:
I find some moderates policy ok, but their messaging is awful. All theyâve got is profoundly ableist âstupid old orange turdâ mixed with gross Putin gay-baiting for good measure.
(Which this site is absolutely lousy with. They all are.)

With âtheir messagingâ which is a collection of skeets from upset anonymous individuals (& frankly bots & agitators mixed in) which you then assume are uniformly âfar leftâ (tho opposing genocide actually draws pretty broadly, even 30% of republicans disagree w/ Israeli military response rn)

You seem to contrasting AOCâs & Lamb messaging, both professional politicians w/ media consultants who also happen to fairly very skilled social media gamesâŚ

Who would you say are the most representatives of the far left who are throwing tantrums in their messaging?

You sold out Medicaid & hospitals.
Everyone has lost faith in your leadership. Whether you think you deserve it or not, do whatâs best for the party by follow in Trudeauâs footsteps and stepping away.

Know what we need? A staffed and functioning National Weather Service.
Know what we have? One party gutting the government and another that simply wonât fight.
Schumer needs to go.

Nothing. Most investors own either as part of an index fund or managed pension and cannot readily divest.

Yes, and Schumer can help this process along by resigning. Then leadership more suited for the moment can step up. And we can resume focusing the anger. Easy!

Resign. You are not fit to serve as a leader in the Democratic Party.

100% Dems back to twiddling their thumbs. I cannot (but sadly can) believe they chose this outcome.
Since they no longer have leverage, I guess thereâs no point in talking to them besides pouring our energy into demanding Surrendering Schumer be replaced. Which is one of my new hobbies.

How does one know when theyâre going to hold the vote?
