Public sequencing data in SRA was up as of a couple hours ago. Most of that is housed in AWS/GC.

No idea. Maybe they were doing something with the network. I’d rather not take any chances & start planning to back up.
Most of it is already backed up through International Nucleotide Sequence Database collab members (of which NCBI & EMBL are members). It’s sad that gov’t repos have become labile.

Postdocs can reasonably be considered a hybrid of the two.
At the end of the day, our workforce is only as strong as we allow our workers to become.
Better supported learners make for happier and more productive workforce members.

Compare to industry where it’s reasonable to expect folks know a bit about what they will be doing with the companies.
That said, training in both academic and industry envs should be paid by the employeer/lab. Not trainee/staff.
