Oh look at those faces! You can just tell Ma'am is up to no good! Virginia's sister Snowy is my good-girl-snuggle-baby 😍

I had a cat who would steal cucumber slices out of a salad and would just eat the middle part out

My MAGA dad lives 2 hours from MSP, he thinks Minneapolis is a burnt down, hellscape orgy of crime. 🙄 When I lived in Portland he tried to tell me that is how PDX was too! I lived there and he did not believe me that is was, in fact, a great place to live- because he saw it on Fox.

The last Thomas Guide I had was when I flew to PDX in 2005, a place I had never been, to look for a place to live. I think about that a lot, and how impossible it seems now.
I do have physical maps in my car as part of my wildfire evacuation prep but they have never been opened.

I know other people more in the city who have a big empty trash can (or something like that) and a list taped to it. Even just thinking it through puts you ahead of the game.

That was the biggest addition. Past years we added respirators, smoke goggles, upgraded pet carriers, charging/electronic support. We sit down every year and unpack and inventory and Everyone has a reusable grocery bag under their bathroom sink with a list
of things to grab, depending on timelines.

Absolutely- the fire near Ashland a few years ago was terrifying, not to mention the Paradise and LA fires. I live on the national forest boundary in La Pine, OR. Last year our addition to our kit was a chainsaw- a blocked forest road could be life and death.

I am the evacuation kit queen and I don't think you can share information like this enough! Thank you. It can be overwhelming but if you start small and add more year by year, it's doable.

Here in Central Oregon, fire weather warnings are so crucial...

I sometimes think about how a Jewish Shiva tradition in not talking to the mourner until they speak first- not burdening them with the obligation to respond.

Omg! Had a cat do that, came back 3 weeks later. We think he was trapped in a shed or something because he was skinny and he developed a bunch of health issues. A true asshole (his name was Ignatius J Reilly) but we are forever grateful he came home. ❤️

I really get this. It's like having an honest conversation with someone who has nefarious motives for listening.

My Fred Meyers stores in Central Oregon just locked up laundry detergent! Nothing else is locked up, not even razors!

The cat has spoken. One of ours judiciously chews things in our shred pile, it's too curated for her choices to be random.
