In @nytopinion.nytimes.com Three Yale professors who have written extensively on authoritarianism are leaving the U.S. “We’re like people on the Titanic saying our ship can’t sink,” Marci Shore said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can’t sink.”

Scoop: Washington Post editor Ruth Marcus says she’s resigning after a column on Jeff Bezos’s Wall Street Journal-like opinion pivot was rejected by Will Lewis

Each time I have sat down to write something since the election, I am bothered by this recurring phrase that I simply cannot get out of my head. So,I am going to just say it out loud: we are on our own. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/we-a...

I had to bring this here because it’s so good

Pete Hegseth Deploys 3,000 U.S. Troops On Beer Run

If you are looking for the guardrails on MAGA extremism, it does not reside in government institutions or norms. Nor will you find any courage in the boardrooms of large corporations as they bow and scrape before Trump. That leaves only the courts. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/cour...

You know, this reminds me that I’m old enough to remember when some people were saying that Joe Biden was so out of it somebody had to be running the government for him

And why does Hegseth drag his wife along during all his Senate visits? Could he be hoping there will be no probing questions about his womanizing in front of his third wife? Just asking…

I wish Bernie Sanders had been the candidate in 2016. Polls showed he would have beaten Trump. He was a disrupter as was Trump. But, no. Democrats wanted to cor coronate Hillary. Bernie is still a champion of the middle class, but sadly, aged out of presidential possibility.

Watching Stephanopolis’ show. Senator Schmitt of Missouri is a tool! Scary that our government is currently full of ignorant, sycophantic yes-men. Please bring back “the elites.” They can see the big picture, not the entrance to rabbit holes.

Why is it that the talking heads keep saying that Hegseth was not charged and never once does the interviewer/host ask, “Why then did he pay her off?”
