The best superhero series of the 90s and early 00s. 😍

I love this series so much. I'll go as far to say James Robinson & Tony Harris' @tonyfuckingharris.bsky.social "Starman" was the best DC/Marvel mainstream series during the years it was being published.

Yes, they did indeed. This post is not about the remasters, it's about the 'Pitchblack Playback' events.

Why? i like joy and whimsy. Please please your pessimistic take on life to yourself. I won't give any more of my energy toward your negativity.

...because the Pacers know they own the Knicks and want to win the Eastern Title on their home court to celebrate with their fans. Pretty obvious, really.

"Load' you say? Not "Master of Puppets" or "...And Justice For All"?
Then nah, I'm good.

Ultraman. Late 1970s. KTVU Channel 2 - San Francisco. The Captain Cosmic Show. Weekdays at 4pm. Good times.

What sorcerer or witch or demon placed a dirty, aging spell on these poor children?
You guessed it.
Frank Stallone.

This DC Comics house with this Blackhawk cover will forever be etched in my brain. The ad could be considered the first appearance of Power Girl.

DC Comics synergy at it's best! Nothing like getting the Superman/Lois rub right from the get go.
Dobie Gillis sure didn't get it!

I would rather read the King & Wrightson adaptation than the Romero movie.

Oh my! I have owned this issue since it came out, and also the Tor paperback, and it had never occurred to me before today.
Now I can't unsee it! 😳

After so many years of what I considered really bad Captain America stories, I couldn't wait for Mark Waid (who I loved on The Flash) to take over the book.
Oh man, it did NOT disappoint.
Good bye dumb plots & clunky exoskeletons.
After an infusion of Red Skull's blood, the classic Cap was back!!

I know a lot of 70s fans like his work because of nostalgia but I am not one.
His 70s-80s thick blocky style was so unappealing to my eye. Only by having an inker that overpowered him was his work passable. The Infantino/Nebres stuff at Red Circle was probably the best he looked during this era.

Did Frank Miller's cover provide the inspiration for the sketch?

I loved this "one and done" issue when it came out and it was an outstanding preview of the humorous, over-the-top, brilliant insanity that would run in the books until its abrupt and unfortunate cancellation.

My three won't win any popularity contests but would blow any musical lineup away!!
Opener: Kikagaku Moyo (psych jazz/rock from Japan)
Co-headliner: Jellyfish (90s power pop legends)
Headliner: Kyuss (stone rock godfathers and the training ground for Queens of the Stone Age)

What about a long shot dark horse: Dorothy Woolfolk. She had access to everyone on the romance books. Maybe choose Jay Scott Pike (creator of Dolphin) as writer/artist.

It didn't hurt that you had Dick Dillin, George Perez & Dan Spiegle helping you bring your stories to life!

Leave it to Chance.
Oversized hardcover.
James Robinson and Paul Smith.
It won awards for good reasons; because it's great.

Yeah, Roy whined and pouted about the changes yet refused to give them up. Instead he took his ball and went home by sending the characters to limbo... literally.

IIRC, it was Roy's decision. I wish Roy wasn't so protective of the characters he grew up with and gave them up to someone who would have written them with more enthusiasm and excitement for the new Earth. Instead, he doubled down on minutiae and obsessive adherence to real world timelines.

Surprised you were able to finish it in one sitting.
I can only finish a few pages at a time of this over melodramatic snoozefest of a series before my eyelids get heavy and I need to take a break.
The art is nice though.
