My experiences with base coats: Mr Surfacer 1000-airbrush Poor coverage and adhesion Krylon ShortCuts Black -can Great base, wonderful glossy finish Alclad black primer & microfiller -airbrush Good but sporadic adhesion issues Tamiya gloss black-can Thicker than Krylon and does the job very well.
