My neighbor's Trump banners came down today. Maybe he just bought a new set, who knows, but I'm gonna move forward believing something has changed.

I was working out this morning, and during the brief lightning storm, they announced at the YMCA that they may have to shut down the swimming pool. Everyone seemed surprised because it's an indoor pool, but I wasn't shocked. 😉

Great crowd at the St. Joseph Community Chorus (with the St. Joseph Symphony) concert at the historic Missouri Theater!

This weekend I'll be doing a fair amount of driving. I'm going to be listening to Jane Jacobs' classic The Death and Life of Great American Cities.

This makes me proud to be an Episcopalian.

I don't always agree with @timmiller.bsky.social, but the music at end of each episode of @thebulwark.bsky.social podcast...all bangers, every song!

Another polar vortex in the Midwest?!?! Damn, we never really warmed up since the last one!

Cold run, fun run!

I often forget how beautiful the windows are at Christ Episcopal Church! Happy Sunday!

I can't imagine worse framing for a serious issue. I also can only imagine the low-quality engagement something like this gets, calling for people to listen exclusively to the views of people with limited, but direct observation of the problem (in this case hunters) and ignore scientists.

So during the election, a civic organization I recently met with worked the polls and got paid by the county for their work. I'd like to see volunteer opportunities with similar grants to organizations for things like snow clearance after a storm.

Alliances and fair free trade allow nations to share resources. Entertaining any kind of "national expansion policy" pipe dream ignores that we don't need to control friendly nations to gain security. We gain security by cooperating with them.

Does every kid go through a stage where they sing songs you can't understand, and you have absolutely no clue where they learned them?

Low and middle income Missourians are struggling, and have been for awhile now. We need to be easing their burden and lifting them up. The Missouri GOP seems determined to do the opposite.

Adds the following provision: "No person serving in the general assembly shall serve as the speaker of the house of representatives for more than two terms or as president pro tempore of the senate for more than one term." Looked it up - now you don't have to.

We need to re-think about how we prioritize services within our state and local communities, reframing costs of services as investments.

Programs like Social Security and Medicare aren't perfect, but they have allowed people to retire with some level of security, dignity, and peace of mind for generations. Corporations and their ultra-wealthy have degraded pensions and increased dependence on these programs.

I really want to hear a dramatic reading of this with John Lithgow voicing the dog and Martin Short voicing the cat.

I've been building up to higher mileage over the last few months. Pretty happy with my progress and hoping to keep it up through 2025!

Good morning run!

Good long, treadmill run at the St. Joe YMCA

Umm...are we gonna have to start loudly declaring our support for Canadian sovereignty, like it's real issue and not a complete given? Seriously? Is this where we're at? SMDH.

This is so stupid. First calling Canada the 51st state, now this. These are our allies! Foreign policy isn't like playing Risk. Mostly this shit is just trolling for responses, part of the "flood the zone" strategy, but, cliché as it is to say, it's still embarrassing.

Ok, if rather than a plane, you could get a sleeping berth on a train and arrive at your destination the next morning for the same price, would you do that?
