The problem with handing out government awards to politicians is that they didn’t do ‘service’ for the community. They got paid well to provide services to their Party, the Party’s donors and their ego.

I never, ever want to hear again that women are too emotional to be leaders.

Just a reminder that increases in Minimum Wages/Awards have no impact on inflation

You don't get a job in the Taco Administration unless you know jack-shit about fuck-all for the position you were given.

This piece about my long history of using speech recognition software was fun to write/dictate. But I’m a big fan of Six Colors so it was also a small life goal achieved.

Notice how Zelensky conducted his strike in Russia WITHOUT using Signal chat.

The Wall Street Journal had a piece last night that the Judicial Conference of the United States — the policy making body for the federal judiciary — is discussing whether the Judiciary should have its own armed security force rather than rely on the U.S. Marshals for federal judges’ protection.

Look who gave the commencement speech at the University of Maryland. Certainly one of their most prominent alumni. BTW the tam/Tudor bonnet is my favorite bit of academic swag.

Overdue. But a start.

“common sense has prevailed” — MUMA to proceed with exhibition that includes Sabsabi.

below is the brief acceptance speech I was going to give on Tuesday, but instead my Fellowship was rescinded a few hours before the award ceremony:- I acknowledge that I’m speaking on the unceded lands of Turrbal, Yuggera and Jagerra peoples and pay my respect to their Elders, past and present. 1/

It’s funny how the thing that’s made the Nats freak out is not their leader tearing up the Coalition agreement, but rather losing front bench privileges

This is absolutely terrible news. With the shifting regulatory climate (i.e., antivax ratfuckery), Moderna has withdrawn their application for their eagerly anticipated COVID-flu combo vaccine. This vaccine offered better protection than getting each shot separately. h/t @merz.bsky.social

LMAO! The Nats just worked out they are all going to miss out on on the high paying shadow cabinet positions! #auspol www.theage.com.au/politics/fed...

If this is true, it’s good to know SLQ was doing the right thing, and reflects badly on their political ‘masters’.

If you want to help correct the wrongs of Zionist interference with one of our beloved authors you could use this. Ren has not asked and never would but being diddled by corruption out of a fellowship and 15k has to hurt.

Was the State Library of Queensland forced by the state arts minister to rescind Ren Wyld's book prize & fellowship after she'd travelled to Brisbane for the ceremony? If you punish someone for opposing genocide, you need to say that out loud for the record, not just leak it to the Oz. How shameful.

The Australian going after Ren Wyld and snatching money from another First Nations author for protesting genocide and the industrial slaughter of children — these people are lower than viruses, and, it must be remembered, fully backed by state and fed governments. Sickening.

Orgs like SLQ, CreativeAus, SLV, MWF, MSO, STC, Adelaide Writers’ Week, MonashUni etc who’ve become embroiled in reversing (or not) decisions to support artists of colour (Indigenous/fm diasporic communities) & their allies shows how little systems have changed to enforce ‘freedom of expression'

The day author Ren Wyld was due to receive the Black & Write $15k Indigenous fellowship she was told it had been rescinded. A journo from the Oz seemed to know before she did. Appalling to see QLD govt cave to Murdoch press to punish a First Nations writer for speaking out in support of Palestine.

karen wyld having her fellowship rescinded by state library of queensland, seemingly at the behest of the qld minister for the arts, bc of her support of Palestine is a) fucked, and b) another reminder that without true autonomy and resources, Indigenous communities will always be under the thumb.

Was shocked to read about this in the Weekly Book Newsletter. SLQ follows Creative Australia and SLV’s lead to ‘conduct reviews’ after political pressure to rescind prestigious and programmatic appointments, despite independent and arms-length panels/staff decisions. What a disgrace.

At risk of being rude, have others noticed the extreme irony of the National Party (self declared ‘friend of farmers’) breaking up the coalition because they oppose Net Zero while Australia languishes under extreme floods in NSW and extreme drought everywhere else? No? Just me, then?

A friend has coined it: the Noalition of the Unwilling. Perfect.

Alt Text — a Rosy-face Lovebird who has muted colours, more pastel than vibrant. Slight orange feathers on the crown, blending to a light red near the beak, to light pink on the chin, to white chest feathers with the slightest pinkish tinge. The back & back of the neck are light green.

Now every election the question to the leader of the opposition will be “what deal will you do with the National Party to be in minority govt?” They are absolutely fucked.

As an endo sufferer, hooray! (And it’s about time)
