Consider here: have we accidentally wound up with Thatcherism vs the National Front as the full scope of politics, in a country where half the electorate are not especially keen on either? It seems like a hell of a thing to have just occurred as an unexpected whoopsie, doesn’t it.

Negligence is intentional. Like US, they want to dismantle the state

No way to prepare or scale hospitals. Still feeling impact. Terrible decision. Ignored science on airosols, had years of lead time to implement infrastructure controls. Not to mention WFH was popular and helps solve many of the other issues

I want to be very clear here. These crowds are incredibly peaceful, and the only people causing any kind of violence and disruption are federal and governmental forces as well as the LAPD.

Anytime the police are telling press to leave the area and telling others that they are closing. It is a sign that the press and others are seen as a threat to whatever force they are going to use on protesters and civilians. bsky.app/profile/acat...

Scott would use his position to relentlessly pressure leaders to reopen.
Eventually all states would surrender to mass infection, thanks to Scott's campaign for mass death.

Megan is clearly more comfortable surrounded by Nazis than by progressives, and so would like everyone who left her preferred hangout to leave their preferred hangout and come back to hers. It's that simple, but stating it that directly would mean admitting the first part.

But that’s Megan McArdle who hates liberals and liberalism and uses her columns to push ideas that do that. Her social circles are defined by that- she’s in a deep rightwing hole. And the Twitter algorithms distort any political movement’s worst tendencies.

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power. ~FDR
