🛡️ This week, I had the privilege of being invited by NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence to participate in the first workshop for the "Computational Narrative Ontology" project in Riga.

Sharing this feels vulnerable but meaningful. 💛 In this piece for @natureportfolio.bsky.social, I reflect on having 3 children during my PhD - why I’d do it all over again, but also why academia shouldn’t make it this hard for parents to thrive.🍼🎓 www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Starter pack for those working on misinfo, disinfo, information integrity, digital authoritarianism, propaganda etc. Definitely a work in progress, reply if you want to be added! go.bsky.app/V4Po9wB

Feels like weird timing, but still glad to see this out: doi.org/10.1111/pops...

✨ Full Circle Moment ✨ This week, I gave a talk at Cambridge’s Social Psychology Seminar - where I began my grad journey in 2018! Sharing my PhD work on misinformation in that historic room was truly meaningful. Now, back to finishing my thesis - fueled by ☕️ caffeine and 😅 mild panic.

When search engines "lead" people to misinformation websites, it's largely because people are explicitly searching for these sites, finds Greene et al. doi.org/10.1126/scia...

Misinformation Really Does Spread like a Virus, Epidemiology Shows

Just a reminder amidst the floodings in Spain that misinformation is prevalent and has costly consequences. False hoaxes claiming hundreds of bodies trapped in parking lots leads authorities astray and potentially endangers life-saving help for others. www.theguardian.com/world/2024/n...

Exciting *three-year postdoc* job opportunity, working in @cast-centre.bsky.social at University of Bath!

Paper out led by the brilliant @cecilietraberg.bsky.social! We test (1) a new inoculation against emotionally manipulative news & find #prebunking improves veracity discernment & (2) show how social cues make misinfo more persuasive but don't undermine inoculation. advances.in/psychology/1...
