No support, they played from 8 to 10.30 with a 15min interval. Razzmatazz (misspelt on the setlist) won the audience vote over Like A Friend.
O.U. was my highlight. Oldest song in the set and it's always been one of my favourites.

I know I've seen Black Mekon at least 30 times as I was discussing recently with a friend who's also a fan. Possibly other Brum bands such as Nightingales or Courtesy Group. Most-seen non-Midlands act is probably Nick Cave but that's only about 15 times.

I can see why a woman would feel uncomfortable on her own at a gig. I mainly go to small bands rather than big gigs like Pulp. Lots of people on their own (men and women) at those and it's more relaxed. If there's a local scene near you try that at first to build up your confidence.

I don't mean to moan about my own situation though, I've enjoyed seeing your holiday posts this week.

I know what you mean. I go to festivals/gigs around the UK on my own as I like to organise myself and not wait around for other people. But not had a foreign holiday for over 10 yrs since the friend I used to go with decided to cut off contact with all his friends. Hope things improve for you.

Number one turn-off for me. If there's an attractive lady and I find out she smokes, suddenly she's like a hag who sleeps in a ditch and I want nothing more to do with her.

I've seen Adam and Gary a few times before, they're both amazing.

It makes me unhappy as the Birmingham date is the same night as Adam Ant which I already have a ticket for, rescheduled from the same time last year because Adam was ill.

Television Personalities - Someone To Share My Life With. I've never been sure whether the line is "I don't want a girl who thinks she has to fake" or "thinks she has toothache"

In the same song, I thought "And I want you so it's an obsession" was "And I warned you, stop this circumcision"

Friend of mine who is a bit scatterbrained bought shoes from a charity shop. She wore them for about a month before noticing that they didn't match.

In my teens I had the book Subway Art. No idea what happened to it, maybe it's still at my mum's house.

On average I manage two a week. My record is 8 nights in a row but too old for that now. Hope Pulp were good, I'm seeing them next week.

You need to worry when it sends messages like "Those socks are getting threadbare, you should buy some new ones"

I'm seeing them at the Civic on Saturday 19th. Or "University of Wolverhampton at The Halls" if you want to be Snickers/Marathon about it.

People are often surprised when I say how old I am. I don't think I look young, I just haven't grown up and still do the stuff I did when I was a student. But yeah, I know what you mean - why would you lie?

Support from my good friend Janique James, don't think she's on Bsky so look for her and her band Not Soup on all the other platforms.

Songs from the 3 solo albums plus some new ones. There's a new album to look forward to but he hasn't started recording it yet as he's been busy making the Swell Maps C21 record.

Mix of old favourites and a few new songs. Jowe Head said that these are being recorded for an album. He said the same thing when I saw them back in November so I hope they get a move on!
