I was at TQL gave him a clap when he was announced, and was surprised by the sustained booing from some (Bailey mostly). As the interview shows, Acosta is allergic to taking the high road, however I think the fans were too harsh on a guy who never dissed us or his teammates/coaches.

Move to 4 back system. That would actually be my preference as well, and bring in another midfielder.

Yedlin isn't offering enough on attack, and Luca is more effective at RWB than currently positioned. We've already seen that Santos, and Baird to some extent, both seem effective when paired with Denkey. Why not move Luca to RWB and bring in Santos/Baird/Dado now.

Devil in the details. Is this on a free? Is there an obligation to purchase? Maybe not the worst deal for them, he was competent for RBNY, but not a championship winning piece or anything.

Seems to be the case. Played a total of 23 minutes in 17 games this season. On bench or not with team otherwise. Guessing they want to recoup as much of that $4mil transfer as they can, and MLS is the only place it might happen.

No big rumors, so I doubt it. Lack of continuity in starting XI makes it challenging to know what the needs really are. Aside from another midfielder I guess. Summer seems more likely.

Was great to see Miles bringing the ball forward a lot more this game. Something I don’t think we’ve seen as much of from our CBs this season as in past seasons.

The back 4 permutation looks most promising given current roster and performance, as well as who ends up on the field in that scenario.

Reads like there was discussion but no vote. Meaning they knew from the discussion that they couldn't get a yes, and rather than suffer a no vote, they tabled it. Clearly some clubs are really interested in this, while others are not.

A few games into the season? Way too early.
comment in response to post
Would be great if we could get some insider info on what was said and who said it. Are there teams from colder climates who expressed an interest in this calendar move.
comment in response to post
Would be fun to see. Even more interesting if they released how each team voted on this. Devil is in the details, but this will harm attendance for many teams. Impact of recruitment efforts for those same teams?

Would be interested in seeing FCC bring on Noel Buck.

2023 was peak back 3, w/Arias and Barreal out wide.

Has the team started any games with a back 4 this season? I like the back 4, but I've been wondering if it's the change in formation/tactics itself, and the change of personnel/pace during the match that leads to more production. Would we see similar results starting back 4, switch to back 3 at half

Denkey has been a hard worker on/off the ball. Pat praised his hold up play, but that’s not why they paid $16mil for his contract. It’s early on still, but I’m wondering if he isn’t being asked to do too much to set up plays vs being positioned to be on the finishing end of things.
comment in response to post
IMO FCC need to address W/WB position next. I have to say that questions about Denkey are starting to creep in for me. Early days, new league, but it’s not living up to the $$$ yet.

Strikes me a bit premature. Let's see where things are at the end of the season before raising a glass to ourselves.

Wonder if we'll see some activity on that front now that they have a new CSO and the window is closing soon.

Is NSC bereft of actual rivals? Like where is the push for this coming from. MLS commentators pushing it as well tonight.

Great post. Have you looked at available FA pool as a source for Bucha backup? Guessing it’s slim pickings, but Albright has a way…

Staring 11 - 8/10, rest of team 5/10, we’ll say 6.5/10overall.
comment in response to post
Early signs point to him having good on field relations with both Denkey and Evander. I'd love to see what the trio of Evander, Luca and Pavel playing together under Denkey would look like.
comment in response to post
Pavel, to my eye, has one of the best first touches on the team and it seems to serve the attack well when he's allowed to push up and serve as an interlocutor around the box.
comment in response to post
Would love to see Buck in the Orange & Blue. Heck, I'd love to see Gressel here too, but that seems impossible atm.
comment in response to post
Totally agree. Random/related thoughts. What is the team's identity? Who is/are the leader(s)? That 1st Honduras match was so promising. They've been skittish since then. We've got some guys who don't have great first touch. Bucha is a steal at his $. We desperately miss what Chido brought.

I’m on notice, but not quite worried yet. Poor passing, turnovers are on my list. What’s got you most concerned?
comment in response to post
Call me crazy, but it looks like a foul to me. Just not a card worthy one. *ducks*

Agree that Noonan should give young guys more development opportunities. I think Chirilla is the young FWD that gets 1st team time this year. Agree on a U22 MF option, though it might end up being Dado in that role. I'd like to see a U22 WB pick up.

Any word on whether there is a buyout clause? I'd read that was a possible point of contention with Portland at one point.
comment in response to post
Surely this is the season we see Kubo in goal?
comment in response to post
Is that 10% paid out as a one-time bonus, or baked into the duration of the contract?
comment in response to post
Glad to see it implemented, but I'm not sure what Lucho's future would've been otherwise. I suspect his salary was the real reason he didn't go to SA and he would have stayed in Cincy w/o it. The cashfer allowed him a change of scenery and the various clubs a chance to offload/reload their teams.
comment in response to post
Appreciate the Bucha call out. For as much as he was on the field last season, it feels like we only scratched the surface of what he's capable of. Looking forward to seeing his game w/Evander, Denkey and Engel.
comment in response to post
All joking aside, it sounds like he'd be a good fit in Cincy.
comment in response to post
Fans would be reevaluating Lucho’s comments about him if that were the case. lol

Does this fundamentally change anything? Assuming this was part of discussions from the outset.
comment in response to post
Does this disincentive clubs to go big, or even medium, for talent knowing only way to make $ is in league transfers? How do players feel about coming here knowing this cld make it more difficult to transfer out of MLS mid-contract? Maybe I'm missing something here.

So under new rules if a DP player is sold overseas there is no GAM conversion?
comment in response to post
Interesting comps. Should we be concerned about his pass completion %?
