maybe it's time to try something else. If in return for the release of all the hostages, Israel agrees to a ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, then mission accomplished and let Hamas explain to the war-weary Gazans the terrible cost for achieving nothing.

Of course it does and I have voiced my support of their efforts for many months, years, but now it looks to me that they have accomplished what they can with the one major exception - the return of the hostages. It seems doubtful that further bombing will achieve that end, so . . .

And don't forget to thank the voters who couldn't vote for Hillary because reasons or vote for Harris because reasons.
And let's not forget to thank those who couldn't be bothered to vote.

The word "unconscionable" comes to mind and some others not as polite.

Not true. China did not airdrop aid into Gaza.

Wishful thinking. Trump will create the next outrage and this will be forgotten or at least no longer talked about except in passing.

As others have said, WOW!
And thank you for sharing.

And our Presidents shouldn't accept a bribe. Perhaps Trump sees it as merely a 'grift'.

In case anyone was wondering, politics is good business and the higher the office, the better the business.

Why write a bunch of "shoulds"? Yes, they should, but we know they won't and you can't shame them into doing what they should.
We need a better answer than hoping the Rs will 'see the light', come to their senses and do the right thing.

And to those who say “the people won’t be fooled; they’re watching,” his core (cult) followers and ’true believers’ will believe whatever Trump’s selling that day.

Yes, blaming others is typical Trump. It also means that Powell is a useful scapegoat and so it may be in Trump's interest to keep Powell and delight in tormenting him.

Trump will not be satisfied until he's broken every department and nothing works - unless he orders it to do his bidding.

Also, the original posting was about Trump and the Alien Enemies Act deportations. Let's try to stay on topic.

Yes, it's true that Obama ordered a drone strike in Yemen and a 16 year-old American was killed. See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing...
But it was not a 'targeted assassination' of Abdulrahman; and Dore is still unfunny and not worth my time.
comment in response to

I'd suggest you lose it. Jimmy Dore is the left's version of Greg Gutfeld - unfunny and not really informative.

I wish this was a 'no-brainer', but sadly, I don't know.

In 1860 a President saved the nation. Will the Chief Justice see the import of the moment? Will he save the nation?
How will the younger, conservative Justices vote, including the Chief Justice himself, knowing they will live with the results for years to come?

What can the SC do? They can issue a judgement and admonish the President and what? Trump doesn’t care and the cult followers don’t care.
I imagine this is what sane Germans felt as they watched their country being taken over by a cult leader and his followers.
History rhymes.

But how will the younger, conservative Chief Justice and Justices vote, knowing they will live with the results for years to come? If Executive actions are beyond review of the courts, then the courts have no authority and democracy is lost.
comment in response to

This says it all, “Regardless, soon enough we'll see what SCOTUS chooses.”
It’s clear how the three liberal Justices will view the matter. And it’s clear how the two older, ‘originalist” Justices will view the matter.

Dear God, While those who didn't listen are suffering the consequences, so are those who did listen. Couldn't you be more targeted in your smiting?

Unfortunately for Garcia and all of us, Trump doesn't care - unless it affects him.

It's not a win unless/until Garcia is home. I'm less optimistic than you seem to be.

I read the headline, but I couldn't believe it . . . until I saw her say it as an idea Trump is considering 'if it's legal'!

It's still difficult to believe that our country is led by a narcissistic idiot (He is truly intellectually dumb.) and a band of cult followers and that he is leading us (and the world) to ruin.
Difficult to believe, but I have eyes to see.

There's hundreds of generals and he's fired very few. He appears to target women. (Sadly, no surprise.)
*If* he declares martial law, I don't know what will happen, but it will scary and dangerous.

They don't struggle as the concept (or practice) of democracy isn't a concern of theirs.

How so? I'd prefer if the military sat on their hands and stayed as clear as possible. It's not their job to save America from itself. But scary that the time may come.

Maybe Rs get the point and just don't care. While we watch in horror as American democracy is dismantled, others welcome the 'strongman government' made more pernicious because the so-called 'strongman' is a rather dumb narcissist.

Serious questions: Why is it important to "pay down debt"? I understand why it's important for individuals, but why for America which prints money? And what would be an acceptable level of debt, if any?

Bomb threats would affect in-person voting which would affect more Rs than Ds as Ds use mail-in voting more than Rs. And Trump received more votes in 2024 than in 2020, while Harris received less votes than Biden did. I think there were other reasons for the poor D turn-out.

Fair point. But the voters had a chance to stop his madness - and didn't.

Maybe blame the 70M+ of our fellow citizens who voted for Trump knowing who/what he is. Or the M+ of our fellow citizens who couldn't be bothered to vote.
