@peterbeinart.bsky.social writes an entire piece about what Congress can do to prevent US military action against Iran without mentioning the people in charge of the legislative agenda. This is one way elite journalists fail to hold accountable people in power www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/o...

I've yet to work backstage at a peer reviewed journal, but 4 weeks seems a long time for a manuscript to have the status of "Decision Pending" after referees have submitted their reports.

Tapper on CSPAN articulated perfectly the problem with the way "elite" journalists treat Trump, saying that his confusions, ramblings, etc. are a matter of "personality" rather than cognitive deficiency. He's not breaking down because of age, he's broken because that's just who he is [shrug emoji]

Jake Tapper thought Harris was going to win, and chose to write a book that would stand as a challenge to the party in power. The fact that he's STILL on a promotional tour for his obsolete little book makes him and CNN look really pathetic.

@nytopinion.nytimes.com Please explain the difference between an endorsement and "voting advice"

Seriously, how does the NYTimes justify publishing a whole David French piece about the deterrent effect of nuclear weapons in the Israel/Iran conflict without mentioning the fact that Israel possesses nuclear weapons?

Authoritarians want you to feel isolated and alone, to feel like their vision of the world is the only one. That’s why taking part in public protests matters. You connect with other people like you and you show those numbers off to the world. It’s a great feeling. Try it!

Super-strange to see posts that are simultaneously about 1) Dem legislators getting assaulted and arrested for protesting the lawless administration 2) Dem legislators doing nothing to protest the lawless administration Can't be both, folks.

Not terribly important, but Jake Tapper's voice is super nasal and irritating

Likely reasons why ICE agents wear masks: 1. to intimidate 2. to protect their identities (including cops whose deputizing to ICE would have political consequences) 3. to hide the fact that many are Jan 6 insurrectionists, proud boys, 3 percenters, etc., who until Patel were on FBI watch-lists

I spent almost a decade writing on military officers who disobey, and the most common feedback I got was: “This is rare and inconsequential, so why should we care?” Pushback of various kinda on orders is in fact common, and has often been highly consequential. 1/x academic.oup.com/jogss/articl...

The Musk/Trump alliance had a marginal (though possibly decisive) effect in 2024. The Must/Trump rupture (if real) could have a structural effect in 2026 and beyond. Dems should focus on restoring and strengthening their own coalition while the GOP coalition fractures.

Corporate America is convinced government is full of waste, fraud, and abuse because corporate America is full of waste, fraud, and abuse.
