I’m thinking about how Anthony Bourdain didn’t have any accusations against him, but his response was that he failed nonetheless. If the women who worked under him didn’t feel safe going to him for help, he said he failed to create a safe environment.

really sums up the media’s coverage of the Trump presidency

I understand the legal reason to say Iran isn’t an imminent threat to the US. It’s important in that regard. But it’s not why elites want to bomb Iran. It’s because a nuclear Iran makes Israel less powerless and most of these people simply want Israel to be an unchecked genocidal state.

Word for word the same argument that got us into the Iraq War: "Look how bad this country is"

If you can’t count on Fetterman to oppose Trump on something so plainly illegal and morally wrong then what the hell is the point of having him in office? Even Dem leadership should want to replace someone like this.

A Dem lawmaker and her husband were killed by a guy for their political views and it’s already out of the news.

Yet Luigi launched a thousand hand-wringing op-eds from the chattering class. Makes you think

it will get papered over, but trump briefing johnson and thune but not schumer or jefferies is another example of congress having essentially given up on any pretense of oversight — this would not be in any way acceptable to republicans if the situation were reversed.

Time is a flat circle.

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

Democratic congressman says Trump’s moving forward without Congress is an impeachable offense:

illegal war started by a man constitutionally ineligible to be president

Remembering how Democrats were too chickenshit to hold the Bush admin accountable for torture and how that probably laid the groundwork for Republicans thinking they could start torturing people again. What a sick, sick country this is.

when we scream and shout about doing things, this is what we mean. got popped and still went back again? hell yeah brother

Grok is a failure. Should probably shut down the Memphis plant then.

Anyone ask @jaketapper.bsky.social for his take on this? Is this man in control of his faculties well enough to be the President, you think?

Israel's Prime Minister may think no one will notice what he's doing in Gaza while he bombs Iran. People face starvation. 55,000 killed. Aid workers and doctors turned away at the border. Shooting at innocent people desperate for food. The world sees you, Benjamin Netanyahu.

I have obtained new nonpublic data from ICE that shows that 2/3 of the people it had booked into detention facilities this fiscal year had no criminal convictions at all. Less than 7% have violent convictions. Most convictions were for immigration, traffic, and vice offenses.

Jfc the times loves to write about supposed progressives who turn out to be little more than ladder climbers. See also their ridiculous piece on David Shor. It’s like the think it justifies their hatred of the left to flaunt these people at us.

it takes a special brand of political incompetence to see millions of people marching against the opposition and not do anything to seize that momentum but it appears dem leadership has decided to do just that

YOU WANNA SEE A DEAD BODY??? *This* is the NOW INFAMOUS "Footnote 12" that Jackson wrote. It basically tells Neil Gorsuch: "Fuck you as a staff, label, and motherfucking crew."

No American outlet would hesitate to describe them as pro-regime paramilitaries or an irregular militia and similar terms if this was happening anywhere else.

Every day working in politics as a leftist I made compromises in at least some ways. But did I whine about it when I had to say, pull a list of pro-lifers for an incumbent Dem in bumfuck TN? No. Is the opposite scenario ever asked of regular liberals? Rarely. And when it is they whine like crazy.

I’ll accept Shor and the centrist consultant class’ resignations by the end of the day.

right-wingers will often say that America deserves credit for ending slavery rather than blame for having slavery. but then we made a holiday to commemorate the end of slavery and they still got mad, which should tell you what their real objection is.

Mommy, the Times is trying to make us go to war again

The through-line of every policy, electoral, and organizational choice made by the leaders of the Democratic Party is that no one else gets to be leaders of the Democratic Party

The conservative movement is lying about basically every empirical "debate" of our time, from climate change to voter fraud to vaccines. Why is it so impossible for reactionary centrists to contemplate the possibility they're lying about trans healthcare too?

Awful. As @peterbeinart.bsky.social notes, neither @schumer.senate.gov nor @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social have signed on to requiring Trump to get cong authorization for war with Iran. As I argued (see below) there should be a bipartisan coalition here. Where is it? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/o...

Think about what it says to talk about a 67 year old, even leaving aside how awful he is, as “the future” of anything. Solipsistic octogenarian cowards anointing a Medicare-eligible ex-governor who resigned in disgrace the future captain of the sinking ship. What a party.

Just in: trump still lacks constitutional authority to go to war with Iran without congressional authorization, outside of an emergency/defensive context.

If you think a retrograde bully and serial sex pest like Andrew Fuckup Cuomo is the best hope for the future of the Democratic Party, go ahead and load your pockets with stones and walk into the Hudson River.

During the largest protest in U.S. history, a protest against the gravest threat either has faced in their time in politics, Schumer and Jefferies were at the Hamptons wedding of a mega-donor. It's hardly a surprise the base wants better.

what are you supposed to do when the "good" political party doesn't treat a dozen credible sexual harassment claims as disqualifying for a political candidate. how are you supposed to ignore that

So, a Fox personality calls for ICE to go to Dodger Stadium and then it happens a couple of days later. Our leaders now just getting their marching orders from right wing media.

Quite the indictment of today’s political conservatism that leading voices from the supposedly serious camp have adopted a light version of Great Replacement conspiracy as dogma and are propagating it by casually spreading falsehoods (illegal immigrants can’t vote; Abrego Garcia had legal status).

it cannot simultaneously be true that media outlets like the Times and the Post are the Fourth Estate, playing a vital Democratic function, and also that what occurs on its pages is harmless intellectual inquiry

X is a place for Nazis to share CSAM, and I'm being told by many individuals in the media that this is less of a problem than the fact that Bluesky doesn't respond well to centrist platitudes

Hey remember in 2017, when Donald Trump was President, and North Korea successfully tested a thermonuclear device, and in response Trump, like, decided to become best friends with Kim Jong Un?

We probably aren't in the dumbest timeline if the Iraq invasion debate didn't lay the track for getting there.

it was incredibly stupid. stupider than you can imagine. the stupidity of the commentary especially was low key my inspiration for wanting to get into the takes game. me at 14 basically, “i could do better than this shit”

People on here, regardless if they're left or liberals love to assign many voters deeper motives than they have. A significant amount of people voted Trump because he's the man from the TV that said he'd make things cheap again.
