US exceptionalism is so funny because they really created this extremely elaborate system of government to prevent any individual entity from becoming to powerful, then still ended up at "the immigration enforcement agency has arrested the mayor for being annoying".

My favorite part is the "concierge service" where you can apparently show up at any airport without any documentation, claim to be an _alien_, and get a free flight to some other country + a cash bonus on landing. I'm sure nobody will use this to start life over with a new name and some $$.

OK, I’m told the feds released Mayor Barka rather than holding him over the weekend on the pretext they couldn’t get him before a judge. I am pleasantly surprised, through I suspect the decision was made on a lower level and that the people who made it may suffer.

NEW: Rumeysa Ozturk is free from ICE custody. There was a delay as ICE sought to fit her w/ an ankle monitor, prompting a 2nd order from a federal judge clarifying that she was to be released without any monitoring or restrictions. She is with her lawyer; expected to return to Mass. tomorrow.
