#NewWest Kind of shy. Opinionated and dorky. Go eat rocks David. I hear diamonds are tasty šŸ’Ž

It good (for plants) but not for biking with frenz

Exactly. Except I’m not going to even try to piece it together.

When someone blocks you Bluesky rips your conversation into tiny shreds. I can see your posts. I can see the other person’s posts. I can not see any connections between them.

I wasn’t following. Is it possible that they perceived your intentions were antagonistic? Maybe they wanted to save their energy for other things

Neoliberal policies have led to despair, and despair breeds hatred and fear — the fertile ground for fascism. -Dr. Cornel West, 2014

Not really

It’s okay to not agree with everything I say. I’m admittedly an opinionated weirdo. You could always just leave me alone with my weird opinions and go about your day.

FWIW I do not hate you. I find you irritating at times (but you seem to want that). Ultimately, I don’t really know you at all.
comment in response to post
Is that what drives you? Do you hate me? It seems… unwarranted.

This social behaviour is deeply engrained in humans. You aren’t going to change that by antagonizing people, and I believe you know this. There must be something else you are getting out of the troll behaviours

Generally, people are conflict avoidant. They communicate with other people to build community and belonging. When someone shows up trying to break the common bonds it is perceived as hostility.
comment in response to post
For sure. However, It is challenging to continue to engage with someone who only seems intent to provoke.
comment in response to post
Tell me more about this. How do you feel when you interact with someone and they block you?
comment in response to post
Thank you. It’s been alright. How about yourself?

I don’t know. I try to be a reasonable person but I haven’t really gotten much reasonable behaviour from the hundreds of anonymous accounts targeting New West accounts 🤷

We may be encountering a fundamental difference in what we each believe the role of government and taxes is. We will not be able to shift one another’s opinions on this.
comment in response to post
You realize there are millions of people on here you could engage with, right? Why go through so much trouble to get the attention of a handful of people who aren’t interested?
comment in response to post
What would you call people who want to reduce personal freedom of expression?
comment in response to post
Fair point. I don’t follow federal projects as closely. FWIW, I’d rather have more social support for those in need than tax cuts. I’m middle class.
comment in response to post
Why?
comment in response to post
ā€˜Expensive Consultants’ are actually middle class specialists providing valuable services to cities. It would be much less efficient to have city staff complete all the work that is outsourced

BTW, Rohan didn’t block me. He’s a pretty cool guy.

Thanks bud.

oh?! Please share screenshots.

Keep up the good manners šŸ‘

Thank you for sharing. It’s nice to know that you admit you aren’t engaging in good faith.
comment in response to post
Awesome, and thank you!
comment in response to post
Why would I share private financial information with an anonymous troll?
comment in response to post
Hey bud, can you tell me who you posted this to? They seem to have blocked me and I’m curious why.
comment in response to post
Those shelves! 😻

Ppl love this idea of speaking to ppl out of their "eco chamber". Until they encounter unconstructive trolls and bad faith actors. And often those same trolls complain about shut out when ppl get tired of their shit
comment in response to post
Haha, I eventually figured this out, but the process left scars šŸ˜‚

Alternatively, we could have fewer stupid rules.

As an east coaster who grew up among dancing fiends it took me a long while to understood why people here were so affronted by general jovial behaviour (dancing) in social situations. This city needs a rule book for newbies. Instead we just get concerned scowls.

The worst job in the country!

The W’s are disconcertingly symmetrical. Maybe if they were more playfully tilted… l/l/… they might be more evocative of pilings and other landscape elements

ā€˜Tugboat’ is the energy I will bring to my day!

Great video!

The waves reference Indigenous linework (Indigenous groups were engaged in the process) in an elegant and thoughtful nod to the unceeded land we live, work and play on.
comment in response to post
The lack of symmetry is a big win IMO, my eye keeps moving around. It conveys energy and dynamism. The previous symmetrical crown logo conveyed the idea that NW was a city that was fixed (and frankly stodgy)
comment in response to post
For reference, this is the logo being replaced
