I want my enemies to have less power and for us to have more. Part of that involves people who have supported bad leaders and ideas changing their minds. We don't have to be anyone's friend or forgive people, but off-ramps must exist. I think that's pretty basic.

i used to complain about how powerful a tool excel is, and how we gave it to normal-ass people, and they produced so many use-cases where they used excel for something databases or entire other applications should be doing (could/should thing) AI/LLM/whatever is like the quantum evolution of this

so much of the past 9 years has been eye-opening regarding this strange country i live in. i mourn for what i thought this country was, but still, somehow, have hope that things could get better. i try not to make a habit of declarative political threads, but i've finally organized some thoughts.

friend was like “as a Bulls fan shouldn’t you root against the pacers?” “nah, I only rooted against reggie miller. how could I hate rik smits or any of the davises”

shaq talking like he's going into the office day 1 and just giving stephen a smith a wedgie then stealing his secretary

deserved. i love haliburton but i've always been a huge siakam fan. his game tonight was insane.

thunder in 6.

Oklahoma City and Indiana in the league championship should be a moment of euphoria for alleged basketball fans, and it will suck that the NBA and lots of their media are going to be unhappy about it

Congratulations to both the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Indiana Pacers on getting rid of Paul George and assembling an NBA Finals team as a direct result

Say what you will about the East, but having a conference finals of two teams that win primarily by playing harder than you is good for the league.

i prefer the pacers to win but god dammit i want another game in this series it's been so good.

i feel really bad for myself in that i didn't pay enough attention to the pacers before the playoffs

i really enjoy pascal siakam

i feel people should be able to do what they want to do i also feel that sports betting in its current form is so obviously predatory it's well beyond "let people do what they want" territory, but more "we can't let this much harm be inflicted by a system that's, y'know, rigged so the house wins"

ok people that is way too much joni erst face in the ol' TL

sooooooooooo many people learning the "maybe I should have backed things up" lesson

Bluesky user capsule reviews: Mina Kimes: a wonderful human who also happens to know more about football than every single sexist hater she has linuxking: I've known a number of people who refer to themselves as "linux kings" or "linux lords" or "IT ninjas" and they're wildly insufferable at best

*spit take*

This is neat. As a note, I define "stayed" as kinda a "lived but not really" which doesn't qualify for me. Stopped is I stayed a night but had no destination. tenpages.github.io/us-level/us....

What a year this week has been.

i'm really only anti-thunder in these playoffs because they've seemed pretty inevitable, and will likely have many cracks at titles over the next decade since they're somehow the best team and have the most assets, which is really crazy and difficult to grasp

Charlie Brown turning 18, eyes wide in terror as he finds himself only able to speak like a muted trumpet.

just got an e-mail saying this is my last chance to accept a credit card offer nevermind the last...600 e-mails i've gotten over the last two years from the same company saying the same thing this time they mean it

"let's make this productive" > turns off replies kay dude.

today is a struggle. i don't know why* *aside from the normal existential dread and constant barrage of the deterioration of society
