Getting Started

Here’s my first column as economics editor, on how pay and conditions in social care fit into the wider issue of funding for this neglected sector: www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

Incredible, how casually Kuenssberg skates over the fact she got the facts flat-out wrong in her framing of the opening question, in order to make a hostile editorial point. Just presses on, as if a minister having to put her right on basic inaccuracies is an ordinary part of any BBC interview.

Foster Stevens was killed nine days before the Nov. 11, 1918, armistice that ended World War I. Now his family knows about the man who was with him when he died.

Looking forward to finding many old and new friends on here, and perhaps finding myself in here too. 💙

This gave me goosebumps. “My 18-year-old daughter was at Starbucks, alone, the other night. A man came up to her and started talking to her. A barista handed her “an extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up.” How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!” We need each other.

I’m a little blown away by the amount of folk choosing to follow me on this platform and by the kindness and warmth you’ve already begun to share. Thank you very much.

If you are anti-Brexit and pro EU and want to find some extra followers. RT and reply to this post and add each other. No fun speaking to yourself.
