Yes did the same journey, currently on 34 inch with the MacBook in clamshell mode hidden behind it. Would likely go for 27" if it broke right now.
I was working on a MacBook (with external mouse and keyboard) only for most of the summer because we were moving and that also wasn't that bad tbh
