Don't forget! "You may be certain that as long as someone is in hell, Christ will remain there with him." I didn't come up with this. You don't have to trust me. It's a saying attributed to St. Sophrony of Essex, one of the great Orthodox elders of the twentieth century.

Archbishop Laud telling people what he was about. Just wanted to preserve the true inward worship of God through protecting its outward face. Just wanted to be like unto Moses, keeping the tabernacle, ark, and sanctuary with a most humble zeal.

A young, non bianary Christian asks Pope Francis why "Christians" use the Bible to hate them. The Pope has an excellent response. RIP

MAN

In 2012, I had no idea I was about to meet the man who would become Pope Francis. So as I mourn his passing and reflect on his example, I decided to write about that encounter and the way it changed my life. Many thanks to The Living Church for publishing this piece.

Just found this out recently: the Episcopal Church will receive congregations and allow them to retain their own rite.

Just to put this in context: people were fired from their jobs in 19th century Virginia for merely *owning* a copy of the Tracts for the Times (not even publicly teaching its doctrines). Now Virginia Seminary is celebrating a missal Mass.

Did you all see this new podcast about the 39 Articles from an inclusive and orthodox prospective? Can't wait to give it a listen.

39 Articles, cats. Anglicans, never change.

New book about the Oxford Movement and slavery coming in February. Looks very intriguing.

It's not too late to join the reading group! First meeting is Sunday, and we've only one essay to cover this first week. ⚓🕯️📕 #CofE #anglican www.thehourmag.com/post/epiphan...

Who wants to come with me and worship God in the beauty of holiness while also appreciating the many goods given to us through the Reformation? Vernacular scripture, the doctrine of grace, and the Lord's majestic presiding over the Church and over time itself. Just to name a few.

At it says in the description of this result, I prefer the phrase "reformed catholic." I think the last time I took the quiz, I was a bit more of a Dearmerite? Anyways, I blame Barth.

Reconnecting with this guy over the holidays. Years ago St. Charles de Foucauld drew me into the beauty of silent prayer, and also convinced me to spend 3 years working in a bakery in a little midwest Nazareth town. Careful what you read, folks. It can change your life.

Is episcopacy adiaphoral? I'll say this: classically, Anglicans (Hooker, Andrewes, Overall, Cosin) thought this question through re: the continental Reformation. American Episcopalians also need to bring slavery, segregation, and the Black Church into the discussion.
