People really don't get that you do nonviolent protest specifically to generate THIS kind of thing. It's not "be nonviolent so the cops don't hurt you" It's "be nonviolent so the cops are seen HURTING NONVIOLENT PEOPLE"

Couldn’t have done it without everyone else

He flat out lied during his confirmation hearing (perjury), and I don’t believe cabinet appointments are held to the same standard as presidents

Oh well done

Oh absolutely, that was the motive for the separatist movement to begin with. I was just pointing out that it wasn’t an authoritarian civil war (which this current one is shaping into)

The stock market has been divorced from reality for a significant amount of time, as evidenced by the general anger at Biden for high basic goods prices despite the stock market recovering from inflation. The AI bubble isn’t helping, nor is the massive inequality gap

Anyways, thanks for listening to my TED talk (I did one of those too)

This has been a CONSISTENT sentiment among people I’ve talked to in person at various Dem clubs in southern CA over the past few months where I’ve been asked to speak, and the party has to adapt or die. Holding people accountable isn’t shitting on them.

…(Maxine Waters attempting to enter the ICE facility the other day is a good example), but again, we need MORE. There are too many like Fetterman and Ro Khanna and Schumer and Pelosi that aren’t meeting the needs of the moment, and if they can’t do it, they need to get the fuck out of the way.

And that being said, there are Democratic officials that are fighting (AOC, Crockett, Frost, my own rep Dave Min is generally good), but we need more of them to do more, and I’ve been consistent in that stance. I celebrate when we stand up to the fascists, because it needs to be acknowledged…

Now, the Terminally Online part of me wants to say “mmmhmmm, that’s what I thought, no snappy comeback on that one yeah?” but I recognize that this is a really stressful and shitty time and that it’s a normal reaction not to handle it well, especially if you don’t follow me on a regular basis

Remind me again which one of us was invited to speak at the CA Democratic State Convention?

The American Civil War was actually different in that it wasn’t the federal government actively looking to target a minority population for the purposes of control/consolidation of power, but rather a response to a separatist movement seeking to leave the union

I agree, but my point was that I wasn’t comparing it to any civil war in particular, it’s a statement of fact that when an unpopular leader starts inciting partisan divides in the nation’s military to punish perceived internal “enemies”, it almost always leads to civil war

You are correct, that is the only communication I’ve ever made on this internet site, I am in awe of your wisdom good sir you clearly Have The Best Opinions, please keep schooling my poor unenlightened smooth brain with your boundless intellect

……you are aware we are not the only country to have had a civil war, right?
comment in response to post
Mmmmm, yes, I’ve clearly spent all my time attacking Democratic officials no matter what and not promoting when they’re doing the right thing, as well as not calling out the GOP, you are doing very well Mister Opinion Haver, please tell me more, your newsletter is intriguing and I wish to subscribe

stop scolding people trying to hold the politicians accountable they are able to because you like to act like an Opinion Haver Online challenge: Malenia, Blade of Miquella

That’s the problem with not teaching history, is that they don’t remember what happened the last time they tried

Their biggest problem is they care about Number Go Up, whereas to make Number Go Up here you have to not care about Number Go Up and instead care about other people

At its crudest, most sociopathic formulation, rule of law exists so society doesn't blow its top off at bullies who are never punished.

The Dems need to start realizing that if they want people to support them, they have to do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, not because it polls well or whatever
