Remember this iconic photo from Ferguson? This is Edward Crawford, throwing back a tear gas canister to protect some nearby kids. Like many identified Ferguson protesters and organizers, he was "found dead" a couple years later and neither the cops nor the media will ever investigate.

There are ZERO riots. I am in downtown Los Angeles. There are live feeds of everything that was here and what went down in Paramount. Dudes on mini bikes making noise and people holding Fuck Ice signs etc. But no violence from protesters. None. Cannot say the same about the opposition.

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

It has to be embarrassing to spend years fighting against healthcare and against every person who tried to pusht for investing money into common welfare, and looking at the end result of what you spent your moral coins on and think, yeah, this is what I wanted. These are crimes. They're committing crimes. And when people understandably protest the fact that they're committing crimes, they're shooting flashbangs at them.

if you know who any of the protesters are, no you fuckin don't. don't say names to ANYONE. not even friends. you do NOT know them.

Gassing neighborhoods full of children

oh it gets even funnier/better the author of FFT himself saw the memes and said, "damn, that sounds like me, wish I had actually written it into the game"

Bernie, you rascal! You’re spot on here.

This week on the blog: the big iconic opening battle scene from Gladiator (2000)! This sequence has become the image of the Roman army for many, which is unfortunate because - for as fun as it is - it doesn't work much at all like a Roman army. acoup.blog/2025/06/06/c...

I also mask reflexively, not consciously, after literal decades of being forced to, to not make OTHER uncomfortable, doubly so growing up undiagnosed in GenX, w/ Silent Gen parents, where having an autistic kid was viewed as a personal failing and social black mark.

when I see Pam Bondi I think of the defense attorney from her state who told me that people in his office would high five every time they saw her listed as prosecutor because she was so bad at her job she would routinely screw up cases that any other prosecutor would have nailed in minutes

To be fair it's easy to be vindicated when your commitment is "the border Gestapo are evil and should not exist" Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

This gave me a good chuckle 😂

BREAKING: International coalition of over two dozen worker unions declares emergency over AI use in animation

Some fanart of Asterix and Obelisk's Metadata for #cutiesaturday, why not? You can do worse than checking out the excellent "Asterix and Obelix: The Big Fight" on Netflix this weekend. Highly recommended if you enjoy your quality puns. And Metadata is adorable. The character, not the tech thing.

another hidden/externalized cost and form of theft in AI is the bots for Meta etc are blowing up site hosting charges of pages they're looting for information to take credit for. profits go to meta and others, made possible by costs spread to all the operators of sites they're crawling to steal from

Do not flush your eyes with milk. Just don't. Genuinely, if you see someone try to do it to someone else you should stop them. Use water only.

AMERICAN AEROSPACE MIC SUPREMACY RAAAAAH

The cops that grabbed this New Yorker are part of a secretive, aggressive unit that's particularly close to Mayor Eric Adams. I recently did a detailed investigation of the unit, which has often executed on Adam's priorities -- and has a long of abuses. www.propublica.org/article/eric...

Trump has claimed sanctuary cities experience more crime. But research consistently shows no link between sanctuary policies and rising crime rates. These cities tend to experience decreases in property crime and homicide rates.

So, to be clear, Musk has now admitted he funded a man he believes to be a pedophile to be president. And Trump has now admitted that he gave access to high level government secrets to a man he believes to be a big time drug addict. This should be *the* story on the Sunday shows tomorrow.

"They see this as a long-term investment in a more ignorant population reliant on sources of information they can control."

Big tech relies on ‘lock in’ so that they can charge enough to make back their massive investment without competition. See Amazon, Meta, Google, etc If they lose lock in (Xitter), or never achieve it (Skype) then they can’t make enough money.

fucking insane that it can take years to make a tiny amount of progress, but some disgusting evil bullshit like this, that can do generations of damage to trans people, can just be changed on a bill in the last minute. Their cruelty knows no limits.

🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles. Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

It’s clear we can produce leaders who are bananas.

Unsurprisingly, the results were spectacularly bad.

The same way a lot of people didn't realize how big the QAnon problem was until those fuckers literally stormed the capital, I fear we're a year or two away from a shocking discovery of just how many "seemingly normal" people have lost their minds "talking" with ChatGPT.

This is another outrageously lawless and illegal act from the Trump administration. The President cannot simply use the federal government to target his enemies. When all is said and done, there must be consequences for all those who aided and abetted this lawlessness. www.cnn.com/2025/06/06/p...

Would you wanna see @hodagrpg.bsky.social and I do a whole zone of sites like this?

On the 81st anniversary of D-Day, here's your annual reminder that - two decades before he became Star Trek's Scotty - James Doohan was one of many Allied troops who risked their lives to invade Normandy. He was also wounded during the conflict.

And yes, Jimmy Doohan's service in WWII is directly responsible for how he portrayed Scotty in Star Trek: "During his service, Doohan often fraternized with Scottish troops. He became particularly friendly with some from Aberdeen, and later said this is what inspired Montgomery Scott’s accent."

There's a reason he was the only red shirt to survive TOS. 🫡

People have difficulty thinking in numbers and statistics, they prefer stories with drama and personalities. This is a story with those things.

Rubio imposes sanctions on four ICC judges for ‘targeting’ US and Israel www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

This is because when Steve Bannon & the Republicans were social engineering MAGA they misinformed & miseducated people about immigrants. They told people immigrants were running around raping & pillaging. After election, they couldn't find any. So they raid work sites and immigration service sites.

Operation Overlord began #OTD in 1944. Paratroopers were dropped at night and the first wave of landing vessels hit the shore at 06:30. Thanks to extensive misinformation, the Germans consider the attack a cover for a real landing at Pas-de-Calais. #history #WW2 #DDay #WWII

This commissioner is extremely bad at their job. "Just accept fewer human rights" says person restricting the rights in question. Joke of a person. Get out
