As a career creative person who's seen generative AI replace areas of work I've done as the entirety or portion of my jobs, using them is kinda beneficial. For certain things. I run them locally. For writing, they're great for outlining and refining. Esp if I don't quite know how to word something.

If you're not using it as a plugin within a DAW then I'd say yeah, you're still DAW free. But all of that no DAW/"in the box"/DAWfull splitting hairs is kinda silly. Most people who are DAWless end up on their DAW doing final mix or edits later anyway. Do what feels good man!
