For myself, from the Pledge of the way back when to my most recent stint on jury duty; when I raised my hand and took that oath, I meant it. I'm pissed/disappointed so many people didn't. Especially elected officials, law enforcement + the judicial system.
There's no opt out option.

Viewed through current circumstances, it's more ominous. Hardly any students recite the Pledge of Allegiance anymore, but most everyone will take an oath at one point or another. Military service, jury duty, giving an affidavit, civil service jobs. It's not just for show.
