open.substack.com/pub/robertre... Another history lesson that brings clarity to where our country is today, the technological and political events of the last century, and the oligarchy wresting control from The People by "buying" elections so they can own our data. Thank you, Robert Reich.

open.substack.com/pub/heatherc... What I ❤️ about HCR's LfaA is her distillation & compilation of the facts among the maelstrom of loud opinions about current events. Perspective is critical. If you read her letters, and are not yet very concerned, your perspective may be compromising your judgment.

I am moved to tears by Colin & Sophie Hortman's statement in the wake of their profound personal loss. 💔 Their way to healing ("standing up for what you believe in, esp if that thing is justice & peace") is a testament to their upbringing. Their parents are smiling upon them from heaven. 1/

“Russia is not on the march. It is bleeding personnel and equipment for mere meters of ground. And it will only translate into victory if Washington lets it.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/int...

substack.com/@joetrippi/n... Excellent article! What it means to be a citizen in this great democracy, whilst it is still possible.

I haven't heard it asked as yet, but why hasn't Sen Lankford et al reintroduced their bipartisan immigration reform bill that was sunk by candidate Trump in the last session? What would it cost, compared to what we're spending on ICE manpower, etc? Would love to know!

Pentagon says deploying Marines and National Guard to LA protests is costing $134 million ground.news/article/pent... Now we know why Hegseth dodged the ❓️ in the committee meeting today! Really? Between the cost of the dumb parade on Sat & now this, who feels we're getting value for our taxes?

Yesterday, a contingent of my family celebrated the anniversary of D-Day in Boston to honor members of our family who served in several branches of the military. We were inspired by the speakers, who reminded us that fealty 2 their oath 2 the U.S. constitution didn't end with their active service,1/

While Trump revels in his costly & narcissistic show of (possibly not "droneproof?) military might, true patriots may want to join likeminded citizens at one of these events. www.nokings.org

If the US’s oldest university bends the knee, the door to authoritarianism opens and democracy fades, experts warn.

To say that "we're all going to die" is true. To flippantly try to use that fact to rationalize pulling health care coverage from 14 million Americans of all ages (resulting in the closures of many rural hospitals, thus impacting care for millions more), is cruel and indefensible. 1/

I am appalled by the killing of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington last night and grateful for the quick response from law enforcement. We must all absolutely condemn this heinous act. Violence must have no place in politics.

The cold-blooded murder of Yaron Lischinsky & Sarah Milgrim is heart-crushing. May their memories be a blessing. Our hearts are with the families and communities of the victims. The blind hatred & antisemitism that led to these murders must be condemned. www.aft.org/press-releas...

Don't miss the scariest committee hearing of the year.

wapo.st/4j7XD9S So, what's appropriate for a naval officer should also be appropriate for the Commander in Chief. Admiral Burke took a bribe of a post retirement job with a nice $.5M/year salary, which could get him 20 yrs in prison. Not even close to a bribe of a $400M plane!

Whenever I hear the clip of Justice Alito saying that "sometimes [district court judges] are dead wrong" I find myself replying, "And sometimes, so are YOU!" (As any human. But also more powerful, so they should all b more circumspect & reverent as 2 the rule of law & the impact of their decisions.)

www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202... But don't take my word for it. I challenge anyone to read this review of the administration's actions to date without having the urge to 🤢🤮.
