As is the usual stance of this administration in all matters, VP Vance has been sent out to deflect reality by blaming earlier admins of inept governance. As the kiddos would retort to a bully, "Your words slide off of me and stick to YOU!" DON'T BUY HIS BS!

Heartless politicos in high places who were apparently raised very differently ought to take note, and reflect on what is humane, expected and honorable in response to this tragedy.

Reeks of hypocrisy every time she opens her mouth, right?!

He may look like a choirboy, but he's just an airhead! 2/3's of our government is dysfunctional, including the one he "leads."

And, as I learned only recently, their oath to the constitution is lifelong, not just while they are in active service to our nation.

What fun!

Can't trust a dictator, including the one we've got!

Yep. And wouldn't answer what it cost either, or what was cut elsewhere from the budget to pay for it. I saw a headline an hour ago. The answer to the 1st question is $134M, according to the Pentagon. I am an outraged taxpayer! 😱 🤬

Maybe it's because of CNN's report today that approx 1/2 of (presumably naturalized) immigrants w/ voting status polled agree that those who came after them without legal status should be deported(❗️)We must recall that we're all descended from immigrants, no matter where/when our ancestors got here.

THANK YOU, EU, for doing what the U.S. President and Congress would not. Long live Ukraine in peace, not Russian domination!

And, if Trump wants to ban protesters from wearing face masks (is that even within his powers?)... ICE shouldn't wear them either.

PS If you were not tuned into Velshi on MSNBC today, I highly recommend it. His opinion on the renaming of ships currently honoring American citizens who served their country, and his guest segments, are especially illuminating. Episode 102 g.co/kgs/TuQgY8Z

We also carried both the U.S. flag and the diversity flag to point out that a diverse military is indeed a stronger and more effective force to keep our nation safe. I picked up these mementos, which I will wear daily until our democracy is restored to full function and robust health. 3/

but is actually lifelong. As a memorial tribute to their service, and that of ALL vets, we wore placards depicting our relatives who served in WWI & WW2, Korea, and in peacetime. 2/

#3, Ukraine, in an astonishing attack planned for 18 months, managed to destroy dozens of Putin's expensive offensive weapons with inexpensive drones. Maybe powerhouse countries (including our own) will see the wisdom of spending more on people than offensive weapons.

Thanks for taking on the fight against authoritarian rule in the U.S.A.! I heard other encouraging thing today: #1 even CHINA is ticked off at Trump's attack on foreign students; #2 Ernst's callous remark is another crack in the MAGA wall of support which emboldens the GOP to do Trump's bidding; 1/

3/ I for one, am taking names and will send small $ donations to the primary AND Democratic or Independent opponents of every single one. If millions like me will devote $100 or whatever we can afford to this effort, we can save our democracy. (Ask WI & Elon, if you don't believe it.)

Sen Ernst and EVERY legislator in the House and Senate who votes for the Big Bad Bill in its current form, ⬆️ the debt, ⬇️ taxes 4 the rich and ⬇️ access to SNAP & Medicaid, DOES NOT deserve to be re-elected. PERIOD.

Someone please explain the separation of church and state to Sec. Hegseth. I'm sure there are plenty of service members with diverse views and personal beliefs regarding religion, all protected by the U.S. constitution.

Hadn't yet heard this. If true, I hope that the message got to the pilot in time. And that s/he has a conscience.

Keep it going! (PS: I saved $1100 in gasoline by using solar power 2 run my electric vehicle the first year I owned it. My system uses only 2/3s what it produces to supply energy for all my cooking, lighting, heating and cooling, & transportation. At a cost of $178/mo to own the system in 25 yrs.)

Also check out Indivisible.org for ideas that will be useful when you begin to realize that there are others who think as you do. There are chapters in every state, organizing to provide safety & power in numbers, to citizens who want to save our democracy. I find action a welcome antidote to rage.

Holly, call GOP members of Congress and let them know you will give $ support to their opponent in the next election. Doesn't have to be a big donation, or to your own rep, if you don't want to be outed in your own neighborhood as yet. www.house.gov/representati... 1/

Can't blame Dems. Their 2024 bill funded economic growth and health research and services. Blame GOP voters who put in political lapdogs with no conscience to take it all apart (and more) just to give a mere $1,100 tax break to earners making over $500,000/year.

Yep! Read today that Disney warned the stars of The View not to bash Trump so much. Tuned in to see if they were holding back. Nope, not at all! Brave, smart women will save this country yet. Join us, America...if you care about democracy.

Hypocrisy is right! They want a higher birthrate, but won't support families in raising healthy future citizens. Nor will they support clean air that will contribute to that goal. They bow to the oligarchs and give lip service--or worse, lies--to their voters.
comment in response to post
If they vote yes to pass this debacle (believing they need oligarchs' $ to survive), call them again to let them know their next election is on your calendar to send contributions to their opponents. And remind them that even Musk's $$$M's could not buy a state S.C. election in WI.

Here's a resource that will help identify GOP members whom you may wish to call www.house.gov/representati... to let them know the onslaught of small dollar donations to their opponent(s) in their next election should they dare to vote for the BBB. They need to hear from us now.
comment in response to post
I am disgusted by the Speaker's claim that it was his prayer that got the horrendous "BBB" passed to effect these and other cuts to vital services. If the Creator is really that vengeful (or just), perhaps S/He will aim a hurricane directly at Mar-a-Lago. Not my ask, simply a thought.

The truth about what Mother Nature can bring to bear, added and abetted by climate change. And worsened by the cuts to federal forecasting and emergency response.1/

I love Rep Jamie Raskin's wit & his willingness to call out every GOP member of Congress for their mealy-mouth excuses for doing Trump's bidding to destroy our democracy. When he says "NOT ON MY WATCH," he is a true American hero who tells us truth, and takes action to resist autocracy.THANK YOU!❤️🇺🇲
