If the only protection against corruption is that we must rely on the corrupt to be stupid enough to explicitly state the transaction's terms then there is nothing to stop the dishonest or fraudulent activities of those in power. The NYT must not limit the term to SCOTUS's absurd re-definition of it

CAVEAT: in this pod series, @davechisholmcomics.com disputes having fifteen parents. However, given his abundance of abilities, I may subscribe to the Dave-has-fifteen-parents theory.

It's not irrelevant. It's a metric. But yes, population density, size of the stadium, etc, are all factors, so it's not defenitive. Three smaller-market teams (Buf, NO, GB) still outperform Jax consistently. Sorry I forgot one of those AFC title game losses but the franchise & city are forgettable

you're definitely correct about the "fair weather" aspect when it comes to Houston fans and baseball / basketball. But for football, they're relentlessly supportive. It's counter-intuitive since they lost an NFL team, but that was complicated local politics. Would love to discuss on your podcast :)

Born in FL, worked @ Jax, live in TX. Houston's a thriving international city with a world-class med center, 3 pro sports teams, guided Apollo 11 & saved Apollo 13. Jax has 0 personality but appeared in 2 AFC finals and had a Bennigan's once. Jax attendance rankings 2022: 22nd 2023: 17th 2024: 23rd

Fair point -- for this snapshot in time. Houston at least had some memorable teams from the Oilers era whereas the Jaguars, like the city of Jacksonville, is unremarkable. Let's revisit this topic in 3-5 years. Houston's NFL fans have suffered to Cubs/RedSox levels & may finally see elite success.

The '94 team would've beaten the Bulls if MJ stayed in the NBA that season. Vernon Maxwell could occasionally make MJ look mortal.

"Griping about table placement is just an excuse. You can find your audience from anywhere on the show floor, if you just have the right attitude!"

"But remember the year you went and didn't even sell a single book on the first day! And that year one of our friends got buried next to a table with an oversized display selling weird wooden trinkets"
