It was meant to since Part 4 had a TON of influence from Twin Peaks. If you can get behind a series that regularly doesn't pay attention to the main premise (who killed Laura Palmer) then 4 is incredible.

I remember feeling like it felt very Gothenburg after United but I was a gatekeepy little shit at the time and held a hometown band to higher standards so maybe I was just a hater for it being less heavy.

That was my experience with Dune Prophecy, where even in the final episode they were more interested in adding new cliffhangers than telling a story. I won't be watching season 2.
I almost don't trust Severance to stick the landing now after this season's Black Mirror-styled, misery porn episode.
