During Trump 1.0, this video about Republican Jesus was posted. The jokes are predictable, but I get a kick out of this. m.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ2L...

Famous quote: William Kelley, who taught marketing at Wharton, said, “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddamn student I ever had!” and yet he thought that he already knew everything. Source: attorney Frank DiPrima, quoted in Philadelphia Magazine, 9/15/2019. www.phillymag.com/news/2019/09...

I’m reminded of Linda McMahon’s notorious comment: “Universities should continue to be able to do research as long as they’re abiding by the laws and are in sync, I think, with the administration and what the administration is trying to accomplish.”

I was surprised to find out that the judges of the Federal Circuit include 5 Obama appointees, 2 Biden appointees, and 1 Clinton appointee. (I also confess that I didn’t know there was such a thing as the Federal Circuit Court.)

I’m not sure I believe it. Moreover, the chaos and cruelty of his actions hasn’t been undone, and DOGE is (under Vought) still trying to rampage through the Federal government.

Many private evangelical Christian schools nowadays call themselves “classical academies.” I guess that means that their curricula and methods are similar to what schools taught and used before, say, 1960.

RFK wants medical freedom for himself but not for me. The usual story.

So Biden and Harris were destroying the nation? Classic example of projection!

Perhaps—but you do have Trump’s distinctive habit of Capitalizing Words a Lot, as if he were an 18th century writer. That, and ALL CAPS.

Dreadful! Leavitt is simply hearing the word “library” and repeating rightwing talking points about public libraries. The LoC contains thousands of historic items—films, photos, audio recordings, newspapers, maps, musical instruments. But MAGA world doesn’t know about that.

I teach online Gen Ed courses. I get a lot of AI-generated garbage. The best I can do is give lower grades because of the poor quality of AI work—lack of specific detail, lots of vapid cliches. I’ve also rewritten prompts to make them more open-ended, which makes asking AI for help more difficult.

Last year, I sat in a packed movie theater and watched the recent Godzilla movie. I guess every person in that theater is a menace to society. I hear rumor that Godzilla himself is unhappy (see photo).

I see that Phelan’s press secretary—a former Breitbart writer—is taking the blame.

Over at Zuckerberg’s platform, a lot of pro-MAGA folks have been posting comments insisting that this easily verified story must be “fake news.” Amazing!

I spent 3 years in Ohio as a graduate student at Ohio University. I remember being surprised learning about “Versales” (Versailles), “Lye-ma” (Lima), and “Rye-O Grande” (Rio Grande—Bob Evans epicenter).

Spoken with veritably true wordy verbosity and iterative repetitiveness.

“No more lying, then! . . . .Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you. . . .No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. . . .” From Ephesians 4.

He’s 23. As far as I can tell from his Facebook page, his only diploma is from a private Christian high school. His dad is in the Florida Legislature.

She’s real. A quick Google search pulled up a plethora of references to her, including Fox News and Newsmax videos. I had never heard of her before, but apparently she worked in the Trump 45 administration. See this article: kclyradio.com/blog/throwba... (“2004” has to be a typo for “2024.”

A UK scholar refers to the “4Chanification of American politics.” In other words, politics now copies Internet trolling. This befits a president who got elected because he posed as a tough guy on TV. Screenshots from a recent useful Agence France-Presse article. www.france24.com/en/live-news...

In the Greek tragedy “Antigone,” King Creon says that he has no qualms about putting Antigone (betrothed to Creon’s son) to death. Haemon, he says, will have no trouble finding another field “for him to plow.” There’s another rather disturbing Ancient Greek or Roman metaphor that Musk could borrow.

According to the Wikipedia folks, a Roman legion usually ran 4500-5500 men, or about 1000-1500 men from the 3rd Century AD on. So Musk isn’t likely to sire a legion.
