My watercolour painting of the stone circle at Comrie in Perthshire, once thought to be a potential site for the Battle of Mons Graupius. #StandingStoneSunday The original artwork is now for sale along with other works on my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/MySearc...

Mel C's 'If That Were Me' is surely worth an honourable mention: 'I couldn't live without my phone/ And you don't even have a home' 😢

All cold in the green on the Emerald Isle stands this small clasping stone in its field. One of my earlier linocuts, featuring the so-called Janus figure on Boa Island, Co Fermanagh for #StandingStoneSunday. Available at www.mythicalbritain.co.uk

Harold’s Stones, Trellech. A distinctive alignment of 3 stones once thought to commemorate Harold II’s victory over the Welsh (but erected much, much earlier), or rumoured to be tossed by mythical Jack o’ Kent from the nearby Skirrid during a trial of strength with the devil. #StandingStoneSunday

If you go to a crossroads with a black chicken at midnight, you will become a werewolf. But you will only be a werewolf for eight years. The same Flemish folktale says that the exact ritual is also used to sell your soul to the devil, but the devil keeps your soul for eternity. #FolkyFriday

Just thought of another one - I smiled at Lionel Blair once on Upper Street. He smiled back with a nod of the head and walked on.

I once sold some postcards to Morrissey. I was very excited about it then, not so much now...

The 19thC font at St Andrew's, Corbridge sits underneath a stonking and incredibly impressive tower arch. Roman in origin, it was supposedly resited in its entirety from Corstopitum, a nearby abandoned fort. #FontsOnFriday

The ramparts of Rough Castle Roman fort on the Antonine Wall in Scotland for #RomanFortThursday. Located not far from Falkirk, it may be one of the smallest forts on the Wall, but it is also the best preserved.

#RomanFortThursday Near Lockerbie lies #Birrens -Blatobulgium- a Roman fort built cAD80, like Trimontium. It was a cultural crossroads, with altars to Brigantia & Ricagambeda. Just 6 miles away #Burnswark Hill— the site of a Roman siege on a native hillfort, likely involving troops from Birrens.⚔️

During the 5th to 7th centuries, the island fortress of Tintagel was the stronghold of post-Roman Cornish rulers. Memories of Tintagel’s past glories inspired many legends, and in the 12th century, Geoffrey of Monmouth wrote that King Arthur was conceived here. #FolkloreThursday

'Every year during June, people come together to mark the diversity & richness that Gypsy, Roma & Traveller communities bring. To celebrate Comrie Library will host local author & storyteller Jess Smith who will share a few stories from her latest book Button Bog' #GRTHM25 #GRTHM

The Roman fort at Lyne lies west of Peebles in the Scottish Borders. It lies along the road between the main Roman forts at Trimontium and Castledykes. It dates to the late Antonine period in the late second century AD and was only occupied for a few years. #RomanFortThursday

Carreg Sampson, Abercastle, Pembrokeshire - the capstone profile appears similar to the outline of nearby Strumble Head. #tombtuesday

This is my watercolour of the magnificent Roche-aux-Fées (Fairy Rock), an ancient tomb in Brittany that was long believed to have been built by supernatural beings. #TombTuesday And the original artwork is now for sale along with other works on my Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/MySearc...

This week's 'baffled archaeologists' story...(to be fair, this one is quite baffling!)

This doesn't look very Roman to me...what does everyone else reckon?
