You seem to get some nice traffic at your lake nevertheless. I still haven't seen an eastern kingbird yet, but I only go out about once per week.

I was up at 5:45 to walk the dog and get ready for a very important telehealth appointment. Waited online more than an hour. Doctor apparently is MIA, probably didn't get back from vacation. Resched until Wed p.m. I'll bet you have plenty of stories of your own.

Two very good excuses for not answering the door!

Sorry to hear about that theft. Enjoy whatever you’re into now.

Thanks. I used a Nikon Z8 with Nikkor 105mm macro lens * 20mm extension tube, Nikon SB700 flash with a soft box style diffuser. Not sure you wanted all that, but now you have it!

OK thanks! I don't know bugs to save my life, and iPhone photos was not helpful today. That Flesh Fly seemed mostly interested in bird poop on the railing next to my bird bath.

Yes, and not monogamous. They seek to establish mini-harems of 2 or 3 females.

In the audio you will hear children playing, occasional ducks quacking, and the high-pitched shrill of male red-winged blackbirds.

Duh! Never thought of that, thanks.

OK, I give up. What does 'THH' mean? Yes, I tried Googling it and I get many wild meanings, none applicable to this convo.

My apologies. In my haste I forgot to add ALT text. Shown is a grasshopper sparrow perched atop the rim of the wheel of a civil war cannon. The sparrow has variegated yellowish light and dark brown plumage. It is holding something in its mouth that might be the remains of a grasshopper or other.

Those birds are often heard but seldom seen. I saw mine just past where the boardwalk splits. There’s a clump of willow oaks on the inside (southeast) corner.

The photo were taken at long range and are heavy crops. The copyright notices were put there by Lightroom Classic. I then put them through Topaz Photo AI and used the DeNoise and super-focus tool. That last tool is very aggressive and I think it mangled the copyright text. Make sense?

Thanks! Yes, very lucky to be snapping away when this happened. Most of the time the heron just perched there motionless.
