Dad, husband, nerd, photographer, Wikimedian, WordPress...er? I care about people over tech and how the latter impacts the former. I work at the Wikimedia Foundation. Stupid things I say are my own and do not reflect the views of the Foundation.

Speaking of editing, how about a report from the edit-a-thon that recently happened at the UN in NYC? diff.wikimedia.org/2025/06/18/i... Can't make it to the UN? You can run your own edit-a-thon! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikiped...

Getting experts, like researchers, to contribute to Wikipedia is challenging. There's so many rules and technical hoops to jump through – just to get started. What if somebody tried a different approach? diff.wikimedia.org/2025/06/20/r...

Take a moment and consider whether you'd like to be one of those people...a very small group who does a huge amount of good. And the best time to help is during Crash Course Coin season, which is right now, but not for long!! The link is here: complexly.info/CCcoin25-6

I mention that because Crash Course is funded by significantly fewer people than that. Thousands of people (not even tens of thousands) will come together this year to make it so that schools in the US have a free, no-pressure educational resource that can't be cancelled by rogue school boards.
