Corn Bunting at the Warren this morning #Spurnbirds

Another bike ride to the peninsula this morning, this time for the Dotterel on the road at Chalk Bank and later on Sheep Fields #Spurnbirds

Cattle Egret in the Triangle this morning #Spurnbirds

And back down the Spurn peninsula today for this splendid Nightjar at Chalk Bank. Not a bad morning with a late Ring Ousel, NFY Cuckoo and singing Firecrest #Spurnbirds

Red-backed Shrike, Spurn 20/5/25. The peninsula has certainly been the place to be at Spurn recently. This handsome male Red-backed Shrike showed well when I took a trip down to see the Eastern Subalpine Warbler a few days ago #Spurnbirds

A lekking male Buff-breasted Sandpiper is a real bucket-list bird. So glad the Halton Marshes bird waited for me to return to Lincs this evening. But just before sunset, it called, flew NNE out over the Humber and disappeared as a speck over Paull 8mins later 😲 #lincsbirding #humberbirds #vismig

A year ago today: Relict Gulls near our campsite in eastern Mongolia 🇲🇳

A bit of Melodious Warbler song from the bird found along the Spurn peninsula this morning. #Spurnbirds

Just over a year ago we headed east from Ulaanbaatar, seeing two target species for our Mongolia trip: Oriental Plovers and Jankowski’s Buntings #Mongolia 🇲🇳

Just over a year ago we woke up to the sound of this in the forests of Terelj NP, 🇲🇳 Mongolia

Back to cold northerly weather this morning at Spurn. Temminck’s Stint, Wood Sand’ and 7 Spoonbills on Kilnsea Wetlands earlier #phonescoped

Sleepy Temminck’s Stint on Kilnsea Wetlands this afternoon, probably the highlight of a quiet day at Spurn for me #phonescoped

A year ago today we landed in Ulaanbaatar and started our month-long birding trip to Mongolia with @purevsurenwtm.bsky.social Best trip I’ve done and started well with this Sibe’ Rubythroat in the hotel garden @mickturton.bsky.social @fxmbirding.bsky.social

Male Kentish Plover 10/5/25 Got lucky when I stopped by an unusually empty Kilnsea Wetlands hide yesterday on my afternoon cycle ride. Just thinking how quiet it was when this came into view.

Female Red-backed Shrike at the Warren, Spurn this morning #phonescoped #Spurnbirds

Two very nice Accentors from Bhutan last month: Rufous-breasted and a very blasé Alpine #phonescoped @ Tharpaling Monastery #Bhutan 🇧🇹

An apparent Arctic Peregrine in Norfolk Tom Whiley documents the occurrence of a striking juvenile Peregrine Falcon at Cley Marshes during winter 2024-25:

No further sign of Alpine Accentor around the fog station, only seen by initial observer but is being looked for. Photo by finder Brett Richards

Spurn spring birding has been a bit of a slow burner for me since returning from abroad, but I always enjoy Ring Ouzels like these on the peninsula this morning #spurnbirds

Alpine Accentors showed extremely well at Tharpaling Monastery the other day #phonescoped #Bhutan 🇧🇹

Enjoyed some nice views of Black-tailed Crake near Paro this afternoon despite the rain #Bhutan 🇧🇹 #birding

Male Ward’s Trogon near Punakha, #Bhutan 🇧🇹 this morning #birding #phonescoped

Himalayan Monals showing a few colours up at Tharpaling Monastery yesterday morning #Bhutan 🇧🇹 #birding

Delighted to find these five Black-necked Cranes remaining on their wintering grounds in the Phobjikha Valley, #Bhutan 🇧🇹 this evening #birding

Clocked up 17 roadside Blood Pheasants plus 2 Satyr Tragopans between Thrumshing La and Selthang La this afternoon on our travels, as well as a spectacular flock of 300+ Red-throated Thrushes in the Ura Valley #Bhutan 🇧🇹 #birding

A few mammals seen so far in Bhutan: Grey Langur, Golden Langur, Capped Langur and Goral #Bhutan 🇧🇹 #mammals

Parrotbills are always a target bird on any trip to the Himalayas: Grey- headed and Black-throated from Thrumshing La NP, Bhutan 🇧🇹 #birding

Some beautiful forest near Yongkola in Bhutan. Little Forktail on one of the rivers this morning #birding #Bhutan

Satyr Tragopan, Blood Pheasant and Himalayan Monal, Bhutan April ‘25. We’ve enjoyed good views of pheasants so far, but most have scurried away under cover apart from the female Monal this morning.

Blue-capped Rock Thrush near Wangdue, Bhutan this morning #phonescoped

A few migrants trickling through Spurn area over the last few days including several White Wags yesterday afternoon #Spurnbirds

The Easington Straight Black Brant really is a magnificent beast. Pictured here on left in the Dark-bellied Brent flock this afternoon with the leucistic bird #geese #Spurnbirds

Black Redstart habitat shots from Spurn this morning #Spurnbirds

Corn Bunting singing in the Triangle this morning #Spurnbirds

Love an afternoon trip to Spurn Point

Nice mix of birds on our last full day in D&G including Osprey and Greenland Whitefronts around Threave and Loch Ken as well as Golden Eagles in the Galloway hills.

Birding the Stewartry this morning - Ring-necked Duck hanging around with a pair of Pochard on Milton Loch. This Aythya hybrid (Scaup/Tufted) also on show. Green-winged Teal still on Nith at Glencaple early doors #wildfowl #birding

Spent a bit of time going through the Barnacle Geese from the Avenue Tower Hide at Caerlaverock this afternoon. No ‘rares’, but a couple of Brents caught my eye, a Dark-bellied and a dark x pale-bellied hybrid I think. The flock also contained a couple of leucistic Barnies #geese #wildfowl

Great White Egret on the Folly Pond at Caerlaverock WWT today. It would’ve been hard to believe you’d be able to see this and have 11 Little Egrets on view here when we started coming to the Solway 35 years ago.

Beautiful day again in Dumfries & Galloway. Great White Egret, 3 Scaup and 2 Otters the highlights of a morning at Castle Loch, Lochmaben @birdguides.bsky.social @dgbirdnews.bsky.social

Lovely evening on the Nith with Pink-footed and Barnacle Geese gathering before heading to Caerlaverock. ♂ Green-winged Teal reappeared now mud exposed south of Glencaple #wildfowl @birdguides.bsky.social

Drake Green-winged Teal on Nith just south of Glencaple (D&G) again this morning #wildfowl @birdguides.bsky.social @dgbirdnews.bsky.social #ukbirding
