No drug is ever the total panacea; good health care always includes broader factors. One of the biggest determinants of health is socio-economic status. Indigenous Australians are 3 x more likely to have diabetes than non-indigenous; & there's a big increase in diabetes after Covid infections.

So they’ve decided they don’t know how to use Signal securely, and are doing their diplomacy/war talks via social media

All he is going to do is humiliate you. And even if you come back with a dozen Virginia-class subs in your hand luggage, the press are just going to blame you for not getting them for free or not getting Mar-A-Largo moved to Terrigal or some shit. The only way to win this game is to not play.

Why are they asking for submissions on cutting company tax? Are they also going to ask for submissions on raising company tax? (Yes, I know, the correct question would be “what is the relationship between company tax levels and productivity?“)

She restates a basic truth about the US. “There’s a lot of guns. There’s a lot of gun violence. There’s a habituation to violence that’s very American, that Europeans don’t understand… the guns are accompanied by a new permissiveness that comes from the top…You can feel that brewing.”

who would have thought we'd get to the point of not believing a word that comes out of the White House. It's like the soviet citizens during the cold war. They developed cues and pointers on how to interpret the news reports. Oh wait! That was (still is) an authoritarian regime

Preferential voting is not the problem. It’s beautiful! It gives everyone a say in the outcome, no tribalism, like the USA and UK. What needs to change is: 1. Get rid of how to vote cards 2. Real time online transparency of donors-mandatory 3. Truth in political advertising laws - mandatory

It's intriguing how things change from state to state in Oz. My inner city farmers markets here are well and truly pumping by 8am. I used to go at 6:30 am to get out before the crowds.

Impressive! But also - which farmer's market isn't open at 7:45am on a Saturday?

I think it's not so much biting off more than they can chew, but ignoring the bleeding obvious: tax the millionaires (@grogsgamut.bsky.social posted recently about this) & transfer that money to Centrelink - to the people who receive payments that should be adequate for them to fare well
