They could have made it a lot less weird.

We had some customers at the store who came in asking about Asterix after having their old memories rekindled by this. Excellent to hear!

Oh my god yeah. Everything surrounding Wanda in 616 is a huge clusterfuck of unpleasant shit, like turning over a rock and finding a bunch of nazi bugs.

He's an expert in radiation (that's his whole backstory) so Reed went to him and Bruce Banner. This was back before Reed was like the omniversal smarts so he actually had fields he wasn't the top of.

Claremont is ironically enough not very into Bad Ends. His characters always pull through even if by a thread.

The actual shocker is that Claremont didn't write the story where Valeria got re-fetused. That happened after his run.

Because it turns out she really was Reed and Sue's seemingly stillborn second child from John Byrne's run who even Doctor Octopus couldn't save but Franklin saved her by placing her in another timeline where she could grow up with her parents and eventually come back and-

I remember reading this the first time it came out with some faint hope it might make the story flow better. There's so much energy in those early YB comics but alas this didn't do it for me either. Rob has so many ideas and no meaningful way to implement them into a script.

Glad to see both Husk from Generation X and Vril Dox II from L.E.G.I.O.N are charter members, at least.

I'm relieved to find this out as well. I know social media are just a small fraction of comics readers, but seeing there's people with their heads screwed on right is always good

It set the tone for Marvel for the 2000s and 2010s and it continues into the current era to a degree. Plus, you know, the MCU is largely built on Millar's work

I think my most popular retrospective ever is still the Global Guardians one, which is primarily about how much it sucks to be a non-US superhero in US comics.

Mainstream comics have primarily been recruiting from the indie market for decades, most of Marvel and DC's top talent of the 00s cut their teeth doing creator-owned stuff and it's still that way. But as with everything there are good and bad people in every field.

Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I love 90s comics. I'm a certified Trash Enjoyer. But there's a difference between juvenile 90s trash and "mature" trash that's actively misogynist, racist or worse.
I always say 90s comics are a 14-year olds idea of cool, the 00s are a cynical 25-year olds idea "cool".

I just want to make sure blame is appropriately assigned: These pages are from CIVIL WAR: FRONT LINE which were written by Paul Jenkins, not Millar.

The point isn't "I just discovered Millar is an asshole". The point is "I lament the fact that this asshole has been a shaping force on the US comics scene for 20 years".

I know it's hip to say you never liked a creator when they get outed but I hated Millar's Marvel stuff from the first time I saw it. Fuck that guy

Truly baffling. The best thing I can say about him is that his DCAU tie-in comics like superman adventures were relatively edge-free.

In a discussion on his Millarworld forums, Millar reportedly stated, "I pitched this to DC for a laugh years back. The idea was that, like 'Death of Superman,' we had 'Rape of Wonder Woman'; a twenty-two-page rape scene that opened up into a gatefold at the end just like Superman did."
