Rep. Cherie Cruz (@concernedrier.bsky.social) hosted a group of parents and staff from the Head Start program at Children's Friend at the State House today. They participated in a mock legislative session with Rep. Cruz, learned about how laws are made, and toured the State House.

SETTLED: We just favorably settled a lawsuit that challenged the RI Dept. of Corrections’ restrictive policies governing the religious freedom of people incarcerated at the ACI. Among other things, our Native American plaintiff will now be allowed to wear his Apache headband. Read more ⬇️

The rule is it can be reconsidered if two ppl on the prevailing side of the vote want to reconsider and make the motion. The issue of the criminalization of 18-20 using the igaming app for Blackjack/Roulette betting Rep. Knight and Rep. Casimiro reconsidered their votes to enable the bill to pass.

A press conference to highlight legislation on Just Cause Eviction Protections (H5503 and S0212), a proposed law that would prevent unfair evictions, promote stable communities, keep neighbors in their homes, and begin to reverse the homelessness crisis.

Just Cause eviction policies can slow the hemorrhaging of Ppl experiencing homelessness here in RI today! Our Seniors on fixed incomes or our working class families forced to pay 20-30% increase a yr until the are out on the streets. It’s time to put Ppls right to housing over maximizing profits.
