Suggesting #ConCurrentSeattle instead, for increased accessibility (#CamelCase) 😊

The Bullitt is located on the first floor of the ACT and is designed to be an open space that can be configured as needed. There are no permanent seats and the floor is flat, not sloped like most theater spaces. We'll be capping registration around 120-130 per panel so we don't hit the max.

Ah, no. Though I'd be happy to franchise this out if someone else wants to have a fringe con in the future.

Oh! In that case, sit tight - scheduling is the next big phase and I'm still getting a bunch of things together on my end.

Registration details will be available once we finalize and release the schedule (by mid-July is my personal deadline). The Bulitt Theatre at ACT has a capacity of 150, so I want to make sure we get a registration process that allows for people to pick the panels they want to attend.

Thank you! We'll get our rainbow sparkle beam on, lol.

For sure, we can point people in the direction of WorldCon or try to get links to work up on the ConCurrent site in a sort of virtual artist's alley, but that plan will have to congeal later - first priority is to set and announce our schedule and registration, and then we can hit the "want" column.

That'd be a dream! But we're limited in space and scope. I'm not saying a hard no to this, but it's unlikely even if it's something I personally would love (but wouldn't have the organizational bandwidth for).

Bonus: Do we need a hashtag? How about #concurrentseattle ?

I’ll do my best to answer questions when I can. Until then, please help get ConCurrent on its feet—and if you’re in Seattle on August 14, I hope to see you at the ACT Theatre. Please share, repost, tell your friends, and donate! Link below. 7/7 www.paypal.com/donate/?camp...

There will be more info coming soon. Please follow @concurrentseattle.bsky.social and bookmark concurrentseattle.weebly.com for the latest updates. I may start a newsletter if there’s demand. Otherwise, expect our version of retro—no AI, no apps. Just old-fashioned websites and pen and paper. 6/7

ConCurrent is going to be in-person only; we ask that attendees wear a mask. ConCurrent can provide masks for any congoers without one. Unfortunately, the venue is not set up for virtual panels. For excellent virtual programming, please check out orgs like Dream Foundry. 5/7 dreamfoundry.org

Registration will be required (limited seating and fire codes, etc.). ConCurrent is not a replacement for WorldCon. One should be able to attend both without judgment. Our community thrives on connection and discovery, and turning away potential congoers runs contrary to that belief. 4/7

To make this run, however, we need funding to the tune of 5000 USD. A full breakdown of costs can be found at concurrentseattle.weebly.com/funding.html. This is where you come in! Please help us make ConCurrent a real thing and declare unequivocally that genAI has no place in the arts. 3/7

My vision for ConCurrent was simple: one day of excellent programming; have it be free to attend; run it efficiently; and never use genAI/LLMs. Let me say that again. I and all involved in this convention rebuke genAI and guarantee no genAI usage in any part of this convention. 2/7
