Bob Kuttner reported on Trump's approved deal between US Steel & Nippon: -none of it is in writing -no trade officials or cabinet members were involved in negotiations -Steelworkers weren't consulted -Trump calls it a partnership but US Steel's website says it's a merger prospect.org/blogs-and-ne...

Couldn't agree more with this. It's jaw-dropping to see the patty cake people are playing with him after what was a full constitutional assault that, oh by the way, is almost certainly going to lead to tens of thousands of people in the global south dying needlessly.

This is such a good example of "turn every page" journalism - nothing less fun/glam than clicking through every footnote. And it's roughly 10,000x more newsy than the thumbsucker RFK profiles reported with big travel budgets.

Can't help but feel we're living through an increasingly existential war between spectacle and substance with spectacle winning battle after battle after battle.

Bono on Springsteen vs Trump…

Trump is “using the power of the presidency to grant a kind of criminal immunity to those he deems to be *his* kind of people,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Trump’s MAGA pardon spree.

@chrislhayes.bsky.social: "Since the beginning of March, the people of Gaza have had no outside food, medicine or fuel. They have no way of trading with the outside world...and this is what it looks like."

Few things are more surreal than MAGAts voting to eliminate their own health care just to own the libs, while we fight to protect coverage for everyone—including them.

"This is really not that functionally different than if those guests showed up with satchels of cash or briefcases with stacks of bill and then just dumped it all into a big bucket physically held by the President of the United States," says @chrislhayes.bsky.social on Trump's crypto dinner.

The Lever's audio series MASTER PLAN has just won the 2025 National Press Club Award. The series exposes the secret plot to legalize corruption: MasterPlanPodcast.com This is a huge honor for our newsroom & for independent accountability journalism.

NPR published a story 5 days ago about three high ranking Trump officials with clear ties to Hitler-admiring antisemites and it barely made a ripple. These are the kind of stories that used to end political careers. Now the subjects of the stories just hold up a middle finger and keep plowing ahead.

"The authoritarian regime then started trumping up federal charges against members of the opposition party in the national parliament." How does the rest of this story normally go?

You know, I sign a LOT of things at conventions but I don't remember this particular action figure. Does anyone? 🤷🏼‍♂️😉 #adorbs

“The $400 million private jet that the government of Qatar gifted to Donald Trump is the Michael Jordan’s house of private planes,” says Chris Hayes. “It turns out, no one wanted to buy Qatar’s hand-me-downs… it looks like Qatar finally found a sucker to pawn it off to.”

I really enjoyed this block of TV.

We need more truth tellers in this era, especially artists. Thanks Boss!

Since NYT Headline Discourse is a top 3 BlueSky activity, we should note this is a good headline.

Rümeysa Öztürk has been freed!!

Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like if a US exchange student in a foreign country (say, Turkey?) was imprisoned for six weeks because they wrote an op-ed in the student newspaper it would be a huge domestic story and an international incident.

Having now watched the footage and interview two of the members who were there, the amount of armed, masked federal agents surrounding three members of Congress and a mayor outside the ICE facility was totally unnecessary; the only possible reason for it was intentional escalation and intimidation.
