In amongst all the excitement I fear many have missed this outstanding bit of trolling by Friedrich Merz. The Chancellor gifted Trump a gilded framed copy of his grandfather’s German birth certificate... reminding Americans that Trump is both the child and grandchild of migrants.

Great. Now Scott Morrison gets to devalue the status of an Australian award like he devalued the status of the office of Prime Minister

For the Coalition, the only good tax is no tax. Bernd Rieve, Brighton @theage letters

abc sports radio read out a text from a tasmanian crying about how terribly sad it is that we might not get a football team and a stadium. do you know what is actually fucking sad? vulnerable kids are STILL being locked up at ashley detention centre which is a state-sponsored pedophile nest…

The biggest problem with the ALP right now is it is led by someone who irrationally hates the Greens. He doesn't really like to "fight Tories"; he loves to fight the party that reveals his actual lack of "left-wing" positions. Someone needs to tell him to get over his uni politics crap.

Take back your huddled losers.

THREAD: 1. The legal profession’s rehabilitation of the reputation of former High Court Justice, Dyson Heydon continues. At a conference of the Samuel Griffiths Society in August, Mr Heydon is on the speakers’ list, along with former Commonwealth Attorney-General, Christian Porter. #Auspol #Law

Very exciting, Exeter Comedy Festival starts this week. Some of the bigger acts have sold out but there are still plenty of tickets available for all sorts of amazing people. Prices are very good value so it’s maybe worth taking a punt on someone you don’t know. www.exetercomedyfestival.com

Comfort. My @smh @theage cartoon.

I feel sick. I feel angry. I feel so, so sad. What a legacy, @albomp.bsky.social. I'll NEVER forgive what you've done to this country and our future. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

An excellent article by Amy Remeikis about the absurdity of the apoplectic existential crises the RW media & their sycophants are engaged in with regard to Labor’s superannuation changes. The RW media are an ultra-rich protection racket. Nothing more. www.thenewdaily.com.au/finance/supe...

I find myself completely unable to function today. I’ve seen a child surrounded by the flames of what was her family home. Starving babies. Defeated, broken men. Women cradling their shrouded children. It’s too much. And yet I still have to hear ‘but Hamas..’ FUCK OFF. Israel is committing genocide

Went to a very moving Sorry Day assembly at my grandchildren’s school this morning. Hearing the understanding of the children gives me hope for our future.

Thank you Sikh Volunteers. Always showing up to assist communities. “After a 1500 km journey over 20 hours, we've arrived in Taree and set up our base at Bunnings Taree, thanks to the incredible generosity of Manager Miki Donohoe.”

Superb.

The Baldie man's comb-over is beginning to fail.

Obviously, a third AFL stadium is what Tasmania really needs right now.

Australia has a proud history of standing up against human catastrophe. Gaza should be no exception | Ed Husic

Just signed @australiainstitute.org.au's petition: Make fossil fuel exporters pay for the damage they are causing, not ordinary Australians! Will you sign too please? nb.australiainstitute.org.au/climatedisas...

we seriously have some of the best political cartoonists in the world...

Don’t let it go unnoticed that while regional Australia is again flooded the National Party continues to deny climate change.

As Murray Watt prepares to decide the fate of Woodside’s 50-year North West Shelf gas extension, Murujuga traditional custodian Raelene Cooper has begun legal action in the Federal Court against the Minister for Water & Environment to protect ancient rock art #auspol 1earthmedia.com/woodside-bur...

How absurd are complaints against the super changes? Consider if someone's super goes up from $3m to $3,250,000. So they earned $250,000 in a year. Oh no! Their balance is over $3m. They now have a tax liability. How much? $2,884. That is how much income tax someone pays if they earn... $36,300.

Under the cover of the on-again/off-again Coalition drama, Labor is gearing up to approve an absolutely catastrophic gas project. Woodside’s North West Shelf is an untapped climate bomb. This approval would mean supercharged floods, fires and species extinctions.

I don’t make make many economic forecasts but I’m going out on a limb for this one…I predict that there will be new investment in Australia even if we tweak tax concessions on super balances over $3 million…I think ive got this one :)

Another Australian cultural institution failing to uphold its own values. Another person punished and silenced for opposing war crimes. Another cultural institution that doesn’t have the bravery to speak honestly about its straight up censorship. Weak as piss. www.slq.qld.gov.au/about/news-a...

I still can't get over how a group of trans women did a topless protest against the segregation of trans people, and the "Gender Criticals" are convinced that some of the protesters are cis because of how they look You couldn't write a better argument. Unbelievable

Welcome to our hearts, little one. ❤️ #Photography #Babies

No idea why media still depicts Nats as a farmers party. They are a mining party beholden to coal and gas interests and funded by Gina Rinehart. When there is a conflict between farmers and fossil fuels, they always back fossil fuels. Their opposition to wind is to protect fossil fuels for longer.
