i use hyprland with my own oneshot world machine rice but everytime i check the showcases in r/unixporn it all looks so similar so i 100% agree with you on this (i dont even use reddit anymore but from what i remember last time i used it everything was nord themed)

oh yeah i used to do this with like vlc or something. it was very useful and also supported flac rather than alac which was annoying to convert and copy (even moreso with a big music library). upside of itunes or finder or whatever nowadays is just being able to use the apple music app
