does it have external scripts or stylesheets? if you can one inline everything in the index.html, it could work (also use data url for the images )
comment in response to

absolutely
I wonder if theres a very very simple way to allow a user to click a button on a static website to save it for offline use (at the same URL[?]) if not connected to internet, that would be neat or at some cool easily memorable URL or at the click of a desktop icon

I am not following...
what about custom elements? couldn't a dashboard even be canvas, object, even SVGs?
I think I might be just not understanding. a bunch of iframes on a page sounds terrible.

iPhone need music player where person can DL from web browser to music player and it has all the necessary music player features, Siri integration would be great too - but like Apple Watch control, AirPods control, Lock Screen controls and so on.
anyone know of one?

I've been studying every day.
I've been making websites for work for years now though. (started with social media marketing internship)
I didn't plan on it. And since I started, I never planned to use any code, thinking I would just use various builders and maybe SOME custom CSS when needed.

could definitely make it better... should probably use <dialog> modals.
(I actually just learned about those)
[every time I think I know how to do something I learn liek 3 other ways to do it]
there's plenty of work to still do on the site but I wanted to get it up asap

it's one page and just the js fetches the content from the CSV
fetch("dogs.csv")
.then(response => response.text())
.then(csvText => {
dogsData = parseDogsCSV(csvText);
then from that data it creates the gallery and if you click on gallery item it shows a modal popup.

yeah, that's why I was happy to work on the site & wanted to get her set up so the only annual cost is the domain registration.
they all have crazy (terrible) stories
but now they are loved and have a big family

The dogs catalog thing uses a CSV as a database —
I’m big into using CSV or even Google sheet in static site so customer can just edit a spreadsheet to update there site!

I just like to build with HTML CSS JS no libraries
Here’s one: theunstoppableranch.org/
There is probably some embarrassing stuff… I’m new-ish to doing this — self taught but I’ve done a lot of projects, never got the fundamentals though.

cool, my goal: transition small basic websites away from WIX and GoDaddyAiro onto free static sites hosted GitHub/Cloudflare and to publish most of what I do along the way.
It's criminal that ppl pay $300/year for gross site building tools (Airo/Wix) with features they don't need.

@functionalwebsites.bsky.social I plan to make a guide and tools for making dirt cheap static websites with Cloudflare / GitHub pages.

I actually think this might lead to a shortage of people that actually know how to code and therefore a higher value for it — also similarly to being able to play a song with acoustic guitar this day and age (the age of DJs and rappers and producers) [I love it all personally, I’m not ranking them]
comment in response to
post
it’s like like learning guitar only to see others just drag and drop from loop libraries or use samples — That is to say, I don’t care. I love playing guitar so I play it for that reason. And I like js so I study JS while also vibe coding & play guitar and make vaporwave 🤷‍♂️

There are a lot of files and like a lot of them are like user interface elements. I didn’t find much interesting stuff digging through it.
Not to mention, no way of knowing if he even actually knew about everything on there
