Seafaring or not, Late #Paleolithic hunter-gatherers along the Bay of Biscay in present-day Spain & France seem to have made the most of stranded sperm, fin, blue, grey, & bowhead #whales - crafting the oldest (yet) known whale bone tools some 20,000 years ago: 🏺🐋 cosmosmagazine.com/history/arch...

Fun fact: I shared this article with my college's AI workgroup. Their response was to suggest that an AI tool could identify the fake students

Just a reminder that history is a body of knowledge: a systematic study of change over time. The loss of a building or a statue doesn’t destroy this knowledge. Using these buildings and statues to propagandize a sanitized version of the past can certainly counter or limit history though.

Fun fact: During the 2010s Canada lacked medium lift capabilities in Afghanistan, prompting us to negotiate a deal with the US for Chinooks. However this was taking a while so as a stopgap we leased four civilian Mi-17's, dubbing them CH-178's. Flown by the 427 SOAS

Back when my other half worked in the US in game design, a border agent arbitrarily suspended her work visa as she returned from visiting her parents in Canada because they couldn't understand why she needed to be in the country to work. 🧵

My other half and I met on the bird site. We've subtweeted/subskeeted about each other all kinds of times as we refer to our "other half". But you won't see us coming out and saying each other's user names because people online are weird.

Trump's defense of accepting a 400 million luxury jet being "Corruption isn't corruption if you do it in plain sight" is like me thinking I can get away with a bank robbery if I made sure all the cameras were on and gave them a big ol wave as I pistol whipped all the tellers

Please don't put in the newspaper that 28 children laughed at me

Q: Why can’t flintknappers get dates? A: Because they’re always flaking! #archaeology #archeology #dadjokes

This is something that has been extremely relevant to my life during times of loss or crisis. Everything seems to just kind of go quiet inside.

Per my previous announcement, this is my new rock. It appears to be a hydrothermal seam in phyllite, which has deposited feldspar, quartz, and all of this lovely pyrite. New rock.

Tomorrow I will be making an announcement about my cool new rock.

Upright bikes have been a game-changer for urban biking around the world since they first “exploded” outside of Europe — I wrote this with @modacitylife.com back in 2014, “In Praise Of The Upright Bike” back when we were still spreading the word in those early years. www.huffpost.com/archive/ca/e...

I'm obsessed with how much ancient history wikipedia editors managed to fit into the "yo mama" article
