CARTOON OF THE DAY (From @andertoon.bsky.social )

Taking a bribe in a very public way doesn't mean you aren't corrupt, it means your corruption is shameless.

A favorite sign from yesterday's rally. Apropos.

Exactly right.

If Ms Kristy Noem can go to El Salvador for a prisoner porn photo op, along with her camera people, stylist, make-up artist, etc, there is no good reason that Senator Van Hollen should not be allowed to see his wrongfully imprisoned constituent.

Here is the situation if I’m understanding it correctly: 1. They are deporting lawful immigrants erroneously to prisons overseas 2. They are claiming no recourse to return these individuals 3. They say they are open to deporting citizens in the same way

Why are they so afraid of books?

“This does not just affect North Carolina,” Riggs said. “This is like dropping a match in a really dry forest. And if we let this kind of anti-democratic effort take hold, we will not be able to contain it. So this is a fight for the very soul of democracy. Today’s decision was deeply misinformed.”

So. I wrote a dissertation on how economic crises can lead to the breakdown of authoritarian regimes. Here are three key point to keep in mind as you watch the news this week 🧵

Alienate our allies Crash the market Devalue the dollar Spike prices Dismantle the federal government Cause immigrants to live in fear Make others not want to come here If you made a blueprint for how to hurt 🇺🇸, it would look a lot like this Putin is enjoying the show

Donald Trump has committed the most profound, harmful and unnecessary economic error in the modern era. Almost everything he said—on history, economics and the technicalities of trade—was utterly deluded econ.st/3YbbFjq

If Biden had ever tried to prevent lawyers and firms representing Jan. 6 clients from entering federal buildings, or pulled the security clearances of lawyers representing Trump, there would have been calls for impeachment THE NEXT DAY. That’s all

Free Mahmoud Khalil. It's important to protect speech, even, perhaps especially, when we don't agree what's being said. If we don't support other people's First Amendment rights, then who will protect ours? We have to all be in this together.

You don't have to support or even like the campus protests to recognize how dangerous deporting a legal resident is. This is literally the point of the 1st Amendment. This is their test to see how much they can get away with. Next it will be immigration advocates and on. Don't make excuses.

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social please get your caucus in order. I’m horrified that Democrats in Congress voted to censure Rep. Green.

This is absolutely unhinged, even for Trump. He’s going to tank the entire economy.

If Biden had banned Fox News from White House press briefings and said he was going to carefully curate who was allowed to cover his administration, MAGA would have lost their collective mind. Instead, they are gleefully cheering on fascism.

“Operation Whirlwind” What’s Happening Now? In 2025, Operation Whirlwind was launched under Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin to investigate alleged threats against employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

He nails it.

We are just an astonishingly stupid country.

Oh, a king? I think the Founders wrote about that
